Her husband, Sander, was in After Forever and currently he is her co-author in many projects (HDK, Trillium, Kiske&Somerville). I guess that's the thing.

I read somewhere online that she used to coach Floor Jansen on vocals, even Simone Simons.

Indeed, Amanda used to sing in the choir for epica and After forever, and be the vocal coach of the studio where AF and Epica used to record. She even helped writing some lyrics, or singing on the demo version of some songs. I think that's why simone, floor and Amanda had a similar sound back then.
