@@saberiandream316 After what Amazon is doing to Lord of the Rings TV series, I don't have much hope for Stargate if they buy it out from MGM. Chances are, Amazon will turn it into a wokefest garbage. Amazon might have near infinite money to fund shows but they are very pro-social justice and woke and China will force them to have a Chinese presence in the show like they are doing in LOTR show. What annoys me about this is that, it's like propping an Asian actor to play a Viking character like Thor and expecting this to be _fine_ and ends up causing a dissonance with the audience. You don't expect Thor to be Asian nor do you expect any character in LOTR to be Asian because Tolkien never added Middle Eastern influence to his story. I'm starting to ramble but the point is, every major classic movie or show in the past 25 years will be destroyed with wokeness.

SGU deserved to be canceled. It was a deliberate split in the fandom BY the management, for a series that had a weak foundation to the rest of the lore, wasn't even written as dark Stargate so much as a new SF series, and that they blamed everything under the sun but themselves for WHY ratings were so poor, it needed a quick death as a clear statement on what the fans are and are not willing to accept. I could accept dark Stargate, I love DS9 as a dark extension on TNG. SGU is not a dark Stargate show. Problem is I question whether they've truly learned their lesson or not. The whole industry is too rooted in nepotism and vanity for me to think they have, and imo, they waited too long. Waited too long for a post-Dominion War story on Star Trek and for the sequels in Star Wars. ReBoot, an unparalleled 1990s kids show that treated its viewing audience with respect - waited 17 years. Too little, too late, no one likes The Guardian Code and now the fan revival is dead for good. My question, is Brad Wright there because it is his passion and creative vision - or is he there to soak up the blame for a new wave of creators he is handing the reins on over to? We've seen this before, like with Terminator: Dark Fate. Just one nonstop collapse after another for all these older IPs. It HAS to come for Stargate sooner or later, and I suspect that time might be now...

@adrianvanleeuwen3 жыл бұрын
Actually these actors are not too old to reprise roles. From these, actor playing Sheppard, and Amanda Tapping have aged well and still look good. Doesn't matter that they got older, just set up a new team and have the old cast guest star or be generals or leaders and teachers to the new team. Will work perfectly. Just look at the new show Star Trek Picard where Patrick Steward and Jeri Ryan (7 or 9) are prominent characters on the show with a new cast.
@mahatmarandy59773 жыл бұрын
Shanks is young enough and fit enough that he could easily be in the "Hammond/Landry" role. Part of the cast, in virtually every episode, but seldom center-stage. Tapping could also do it, but I think it'd make more sense - and probably more fun - if Jackson was in charge, since literally *everything* that has happened has directly or indirectly revolved around him opening the gate. Tapping, being a super-genius scientist type, would make a little less sense to be stuck in an admin role, which was kind of the problem they had with her on Atlantis.

I'm pretty sure the stones making up Stone Henge were not Naquida, so it would have housed a Stargate rather than being a Stargate, long before Egypt did, they built the outer circle so the Ancient Brit's would know where it was, basically a large signpost, with the smaller inner circles erected centuries after the main ring, if those stones pass through the middle of the now buried Gate the event horizon the wormhole cannot connect, and despite the smaller stones being comparatively lightweight (when compared to the main stones) they would still be rather inconvenient to move. My guess is Amanda's still thinking of when Brad approached her last about a new series and it didn't come to pass but no one has approached her recently that he's still working on it so she's out of the loop which is why she made the follow-up comments on Twitter. She's been producing and directing for the last couple of decades so she hasn't kept up with but for what Brad has told her, which means she doesn't realize he's still working on it, she just assumed from the last time she was approached and nothing happened that it never came to pass.

And if you watch the Companion interview it's pretty obvious Amanda was asked about Stargate, not some other show.

Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Terminator, Marvel, DC, Ghostbusters. These are but a few of the long running franchises with decades of history that have been wiped out in the past 5+ years or so. Odds are that it will happen. I know Glassner, Wright, or any of the other showrunners had nothing to do with it, but remember that POS web series Stargate Origins? I imagine failure like that, but at a much greater magnitude. And the actors will go along with it and justify its existence because, to paraphrase the wisdom of Winston Zedmore, if there’s a steady paycheck, they’ll believe anything they have to.

MGM (Iirc) has something like 15,000 hrs of TV content with the three SG series amounting to around 2% of that catalog. At a wild guess Amazon's current lineup must be comparable and just getting the "friends and family" rate of renting the show to themselves would save a ton of money and also make new content in the franchise even more profitable.

Need more Stargate, for the love of everything please give us more Stargate 🙏 Favorite characters I would want to see back? And what's Braytac (sorry spelling is probably wrong) doing? See, too many to list... If it's already I just wanted to say that I am battling with severe anxiety and depression and at times the ONLY thing that can and has saved me is Stargate since I discovered it, I cannot truly relate my gratitude to everyone involved in Stargate for making it so amazing 💜 Little story to share I grabbed the original Stargate movie to rent one weekend and watched it with my man that night and loved it, years later I was home on sick leave stuck on couch with torn up back, desperately trying to find something to watch to distract from the pain, hubby casually mentions that there is a Stargate TV show, been on for awhile... I smacked him for not telling me sooner 😉 Now I watch SG-1 and Atlantis almost daily, it's my happy place!

There is a sizeable audience for Stargate. The shows just got a boost of awareness, too, with the recent Blu Ray releases. The ideal new show would feature people like General Carter, Daniel Jackson, Col Sheppard (full bird colonel, but still unable to get promoted to General due to his occasional disregard of orders), Rodney McKay, Carson Beckett, etc, supporting a new, younger team. It would appeal to existing Stargate fans, while also having something for new, younger fans. The potential sale of MGM IS likely the reason for the delay. Broadcasters/Streamers don't want to commit to the show until MGM's status is known. And if Amazon does buy MGM that's the likely home for the show. My bet is if Amazon does buy MGM we will likely see a new Stargate series. If they don't, it's a 50/50 proposition.

The Stargate franchise, I think we all can agree, had become something very special. Undoubtably greater than the sum of its parts. But we must not forget,… that this was just a result. It was indeed the totality of it’s production team that was greater than the sum of its parts. The actors, the writers, producers, directors, ...all of it. Without that vision, without that profoundly special group effort,… It would have just been short-lived drivel with some special effects thrown in. They had captured lightning in a bottle. And at some point, they realized that. Like that magic moment in your dream when you realize it’s a dream. If anyone dare take up this mantle, they had better understand that lightning,… And understand that bottle. If so,… Go for it! We are all behind you! If not so,… leave it alone. Amazon finds themselves on the precipice of greatness or utter failure. They can either bring LOTR back to life,… Or kill it forever. Either way, an incredible fortune is on the line. And they are in a unique position to perhaps make the same wager with the Stargate franchise. I don’t foresee MGM or even Netflix being able to do the franchise justice on their own. The Syfy channel was never the same. It never recovered from it’s failed attempt at their Battlestar Galactica-esque attempt at SGU. And we must never forget that Showtime itself was perfectly willing to give Stargate away. Either way, my only request is do it right,… Or don’t do it at all.

LOVED this series, I would watch this in a heartbeat. I have a question about a new series in the 2020's vs. the original in the '90's and early 2000's. The role of the military was as the good guy generally. Yes there were occasional officers that came in with ill-intent but the main characters in the military were always present as good. A call to the President usually fixed those bad intentions. With our changing views on the US military/govt vs. the optimistic '90's could this show still work and get you cheering for the SG teams? Would more civilian control of the program help with this? What about the wacko state of the Federal govt. Not sure I'd be happy trusting them with the power and technology I saw on the show. How do you solve the issue of a US govt. good guy when a large part of the audience now-a-days distrusts it?
