unless canonically stated otherwise, riley is definitely a super talented protagonist. if we assume in universe she’s doing all of this with only one life, then that means she-figured out the puzzles with lethal consequences (toy; dragon princess) on her first go, gained amanda’s trust in less than 2 days, discovered the secrets of a cult, and survived despite most likely being exhausted

The multi-time line theory is that, if something can happen, then it _has_ happened. The existence of such a timeline is a _guarantee._ So you can say that we've simply observed a few failed timelines, until we finally see the alpha timeline. As for how we get to the alpha timeline so quickly... well, it's because failed timelines tend to end and get culled out as well, especially since our PoV is tied to Riley. If Riley dies, there's nothing more to observe, right? Hence we're predisposed to be funneled toward the alpha timeline (or any timeline that Riley survives) no matter what. Think about life being akin to a miracle-- the odds of it happening is extremely low, and yet we're here, living in a timeline where life exists. It's the same principle: We're guaranteed to be on a timeline where life exist, because if life doesn't exist, then we won't have a PoV at all... despite how astronomically low the odds were. ... Although I'm sure the others are right and it's just time loop of sorts. lol

I could be wrong but I think: -Wooly is a representation of the saying a wolf in sheep's clothing. That monster at the end looks a lot like him, and we heard that weird noise when the stuffed wooly was given to the Amanda monster, and even it looked afraid. Maybe he isn't there as a companion to keep her calm, maybe he's the real mastermind behind the world. Like in the can we fix it tape she's sitting there holding her knees at one point while he circles her. -The possum is Joanne aka the masked figures missing little brother Jordan. It really seems to be acting like a rambunctious child looking for attention. And it seemed to have a lot of interest in the camera. Along with trying to say Joanne, garbled but with the subtitles it's clear what it's trying to say. Sure it can't talk like those two can, but if you think back to the the first game only those two can talk. -The meatman/butcher is a surgeon that put Rebecca in her comatose state, as shown in the hidden tape of someone in a hospital bed. She's been missing according to another hidden tape for 15 years. In the first game Amanda does mention the following things. "I'm out there...somewhere." And when they talk about rotting, she mentions "it feels far away." Or it's also some kind of demon that can move freely between the real world and the cartoon world. Maybe possessing a surgeon and then playing with Amanda in the cartoon world, as he seems to be the one she's most afraid of. Seems to be the only victim in this series is Rebecca, and all the kids that got pulled in by the Amanda the adventurer show. Sam is likely dead since in the first game there was the news broadcast that the Hameln made it sound like he just abandoned Rebecca and the show, so no one would be looking for him. And Kate was also killed because she stuck her nose in, mentioning in the secret tape that everyone who did the same is dead. Along with Joanne dying as well though more horribly in the true ending.
@ManlyBadassHero
@ManlyBadassHero Ай бұрын
I also got the idea that Wooly is an antagonist in this one and is trying to keep Amanda in the tapes. The "Why would you be scared of Wooly" mocking tone seems to be more of some irony to lower your guard for the eventual reveal. Amanda acting flippant to Wooly can be her rejecting the idea of making these tapes and trying to "scare off" folks from digging further.
@infernomance
@infernomance Ай бұрын
@@ManlyBadassHero I like that, recontextualizes her attempts at being disturbing as her intentionally trying to make kids stop watching (Helped by how the story-time tape suggests she probably already had/has a dark taste in storytelling). So a lot of the tape spookiness is in-universe a red herring for the actual spookiness (cult trying to Halloween 3 kids). Kind of wish the "True" demon was a bit more stylistically different if that's the case though; to have the Demon Amanda be a goofy Spawn demon that bites your head because that's the extent of her childish imagination, whereas the Hameln demon could have been a more vague, menacing figure (instead of Spawn Demon But Sheep). Makes the framing of the treasure tape more interesting as well; that she's doing everything in her power to will the tape towards "digging up a dead body that scares the viewer", only to be railroaded back to a pleasant ending (the stuffed bear that annoys her) Speaking of the demon, if I understood the true ending right, Hameln wants the tapes destroyed and was manipulating Joanne & Kate into doing so (since they thought the tapes were at her house, and they burned that down)? At the same time, Amanda Demon actively hunts people who try to do that (first ending), interesting that they're at-odds; most obvious answer would be that destroying the tapes really can free Rebecca, but without them also means Hameln gets to finally move on and make a new corruptive show.
@СарраКарагозян
@СарраКарагозян Ай бұрын
I think Wooly isn't the mastermind and is also caught in this situation now, but I definitely believe there's something fishy going on with him. Though he's also afraid of the meatman; if you type you like "scary" stories he has a flashback that seems tied in to meatman and starts hyperventilating. But Amanda also says she used to trust him, so some sort of betrayal must've happened. Amanda broke my heart in this game - she's so sad and alone! Thought about opossum possibly being Kate, but Joanne's brother feels more fitting.

Adding onto the meatman theory, in the glitched "we can fix it!" tape, there's a part where the meatman appears and says "close your eyes, count down from 10, you may feel this pinch" and then Amanda screams afterwards. When getting a shot usually doctors or surgeons will tell you something similar to feeling a slight pinch or prick.

@arianikolleortemoreno5225 obviously as shown in this installment, that's not the case (her and wooly being the only ones in the tapes). As for Joanne's brother, I'm curious to know why him and Amanda haven't interacted before (she seems genuinely confused by his presence). It also lends the question of.... WHO is Wooly? If Joanne's brother got turned into a freakin POSSUM, then maybe Wooly was once a person as well?... This game didn't do anything but add more questions and honestly? I ain't mad. I'm intrigued!

2:18:15 One thing I kinda like about the sequel is, like how Manly mentions, it doesn’t tell you too much new information. A lot of the important info was communicated in the first game. Instead, the game capitalizes on the fact that you know some secrets already and develops the characters more deliberately. I actually found myself becoming a lot more invested in each of the characters through the live action sections because they didn’t have to hide much. Instead, we explore their motivations and become attached to them as though they were real people.
@kips8156
@kips8156 Ай бұрын
Yeah, this one definitely made me feel more bad for Amanda cuz she isn’t able to go out in the world and see all these places in different countries. She doesn’t have her dad there and she gets lonely. There’s the part where she’s depressed and is sick of Wooly and the adventures. Since we know she was once a real person after the first game they really made this one heavy with showing us what it’s like for her. The second game really showed us more of her anger and annoyance when we purposely choose wrong answers too. We even see Wooly’s anger too with the story telling.

Okay, here's my take on this. That story about the knight and the princess is this game. Wooly's story is you smashing the tapes and returning "triumphantly", having slain the monster. The true story is Amanda wants you to save HER, the monster. However I don't think Wooly is the bad guy either. He's the original tape trying to keep things on track against the cult-corrupted Amanda. I have a feeling we might be able to save the soul trapped inside these tapes, without destroying them. The monster didn't attack when Amanda said we were trying to help...so if we keep helping her, maybe we can figure out the full truth, and save the princess, instead of slaying the dragon.

Possibly him being a possum in the tapes in symbolism for how he’s managed to survive? We haven’t seen any other children-esque entities despite the disappearances, they could just be very well dead, consumed by whatever is going on in the fake world within the tapes. Possums, however, are VERY famous for faking their death, so perhaps that’s how he has managed to retain appearances in the tapes. An alternate theory to why he has survived is just that he was the newest victim at the time, since Kate’s death was very recent and it was linked to Jordan’s disappearance. Perhaps the tapes instead feed off of their victims slowly? I almost assume it’s through torturing them over a long period of time - the possum seems to have a running thing with trying to eat things. Eating the coins, the toothpaste, the bacon, trying with the toaster. Maybe hunger is the method of torment? Or it varies depending on the child? Maybe they just naturally starve within the tapes? At the very least, it doesn’t seem that Amanda is aware of what is happening to the children being dragged into her tapes, considering her questioning why the possum kept showing up.

Taxes pay for everything the government does, like public schooling, maintaining roads, making sure your food isn't dangerous, that sort of thing. The more you're paid, the less taxes are a problem for you, because you don't need that extra money, but everyone else does... especially people who are so poor they don't have to pay taxes.

@@Mythraen Read the second sentence. Look up how "Modern Monetary Theory" works. All spending (yes, all) is funded by moneylending from the Federal Reserve. Taxes are collected by the government in order to pay interest on loans, but since all money is issued at interest by the Federal Reserve there is a lot more debt than there is money in circulation, meaning the debt can never be repaid in full. This means the only way to "balance" the books is to increase government spending and decrease interest rates so that the old loans will devalue faster than their rate of interest; this is obviously much more harmful to the common man, whose savings are mostly in cash, than for the rich whose savings are mainly stored as assets which will climb in value as the currency devalues. This would be a viable (if immoral) system if not for the fact that economic downturns occur, which can rapidly spiral out of control under such a model (debt undergoes exponential growth, so lowering taxes is never an option, which harms recovery efforts). I hope you understand what I have written, and how the current economic system is rigged against you and me. It can be summed up as: 'The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer,' and the bank is the master of us all!

In few tapes (we can fix it and the tape of cheering Amanda up, u see wooly eyes black out and wooly acts more childish here than like a father figure in Amanda the adventurer 1)

1:14:51 Just noticed Woolie's eyes going black/empty when Amanda calls out to the monster. Weird. ETA: Despite not being "realistic", the emotion expressed in Joanne's face and model was _really_ good IMO. (But maybe that was just relative to Amanda's own animation, although I think the way she's animated is intentional.)

I was actually expecting this sequel to wrap up the story, likely due to how unhinged the title screen and its music presented itself if you’re idle on the title screen for long enough. It really sounded like something you’d see and hear before facing the final boss, or as if the final boss is entering its second or last phase or something. It does a good job at telling you that you’re about to delve into a world of utter insanity here. I really love it for that. I wonder how the third game’s title screen would look like if the second game’s title screen already acts very insane as it is. But I wasn’t expecting this sequel to end on a cliffhanger like the first game. I’ve been hearing fans say that this game gave more questions than answers. I do hope that the third game will be the last one with interesting reveals, developments, answers, and a satisfying conclusion. Because you’re right. If they made more than three games of Amanda at this point, then it does run the risk of making the whole tape watching and puzzle solving gameplay redundant and overstay its welcome, even if they try to add new mechanics. Amanda doesn’t need to be like Fnaf and its whole wacky, convoluted lore. It can just have three entries so as long as the lore that people are invested in is written and wrapped up in a good and satisfying way. Again, I really hope that the third one can be more longer, climactic, and actually conclude the story in a great way and is especially made to be the scariest game of the bunch. I really want to see more of that Wooly demon and how unique it is from the Amanda demon in the third game. It is the most interesting reveal we got from this game.
@bumbabees
@bumbabees Ай бұрын
yeah, this was kind of disappointing. i went into this hoping to get more answers because i thought the story was really interesting and i came out of it feeling like i know just as much as i did before. this has been a trend with any game involving mystery like this since fnaf and im really sick of it, in all honesty. fnaf is like "how not to do mystery 101", yet people still do the exact same thing it did. the more you drag a story out and dont answer important questions regarding the plot the more fed up people are going to get with the story as a whole. if they make a third one, i hope we get an _actual_ conclusion instead of the same stupid open ending we have seen 50 times before.

@redwolftrash
@redwolftrash Ай бұрын
i think the meatman could be a metaphor/stand-in for some sort of demon or higher-up that facilitated all of (or at least a lot) of the demon shenanigans. it would explain why both amanda AND wooly are visibly unnerved/upset by being in the butcher store when they used to be able to go there in the first game demos + the flash where amanda looks nauseous in the final first game tape where you give the gift to kate + there's flashing at some point during the original fix tape where a pair of uneven eyes with teeth are shown in the dark, only for the meatman (who has similarly uneven eyes) to show up a few seconds later.

Maybe this has already been said, but doesn't it look like the Amanda monster has a bunch of wool over its eyes? The game devs clearly like their use of cultural phrases like 'wolf in sheeps clothing'. Someone else pointed out how before the Amanda monster attacks you, Wooly's eyes go black and then Amanda stops it. Then later the Amanda monster runs off, something bigger and more scary is coming. Which ends up being the Wooly monster at the very end.

2:18:49 I hate to agree, but yes, it reminds me of the Banban problem. Amanda's puzzles aren't anywhere near as repetitive, but neither series moves the story along quickly enough between games, and because there is no difference between playthroughs, there is not a compelling reason to play them twice. It is perhaps a consequence of a good concept becoming successful before the idea is complete in the creator's head. I would rather have them take the time to make the game they wanted to, but the market was never going to let them do that. Shakespeare gotta get paid, son.

I don’t think Wooly is INTENTIONALLY evil. Maybe he’s a kid trapped in the tapes and is afraid that if you destroy the tapes you kill him and Amanda. It’s been 15 years, who knows what consequences will happen if they do break the tapes. Plus, the opossum was assumed to be a villain, but with more evidence it’s theorized that he could be Joanne’s brother. Amanda isn’t evil but she has a demon, so we shouldn’t come to conclusions…yet. Wooly does seem to have SOME empathy for Amanda, especially during the “Fix It/Broken Heart” tape.

They stated that 15 kids went missing over the course of Amanda the Adventurer's run. Based on the information we've seen, I believe that the cult is looking for suitable vessels, Rebecca being the first. I believe the monster is Rebecca's possessed body, which we see it and Amanda have a shared consciousness. Going off of that and the fact that Jordan is hinted to be the possum, I think that suitable vessels become part of the show, and Wooly is another vessel. This would explain why Wooly is the voice of reason and always trying to do things safely, he's just a kid. Wooly always tries to get Amanda to do things safely, and we've explicitly been told that the cult is trying to send negative messages to kids, so Wooly being an antagonistic force serving them doesn't really line up, and it would also explain the 'Demon Wooly' we see in the second ending, his body is possessed by the same or another entity.

I do agree that it's a bit disappointing that pretty much everything we learn in this game is just affirmation or minor expansions to what was already in the first game. I think the live action is perhaps the thing that makes Amanda the Adventurer most interesting. But then again, at the same time, the ending was just... man, I really wish making games episodic isn't like the norm, because I really wish they would have at least gave us some kind of a conclusion. I was thinking over the last day or so about what Manly said at the end of the video, and I have to agree with his final thoughts. I was feeling a little dissatisfied going through this game, but I couldn't put my finger on why until Manly talked about it 2:16:21 Really, it is the monster effect in movies. Things are much scarier when it is unknown. Having the monster Amanda being a well lit set piece without consequence, the videos going over things we already knew about the lore and setting, and the feeling that this game had no new information. Also, I agree that I miss Amanda being the antagonist. In this game she was our buddy who sometimes got out of hand. In the first game we were afraid she was going to cut into Woolies head or break into our house. Tonal shifts made the differences more obvious between the games. Anyway, just expressing my thoughts for anyone else who happens to see this message. Just a very interesting sequel, and a good case study in story design in horror and sequels in general.

Oh boy Manly uploaded~ I like how Manly had to do a double take on that book with a leech. I think you could make a really good anime about cleaning skyscrapers. Like you could have it be very shounen and action packed using weird names for basic things like how sports anime or anime surrounding a specific item like cards are. I liked the puzzles in this one. I like that they added their own swiper the fox. The little cat balls were adorable. Some of the tapes distracting was really cool. Like is Rebecca living in those tapes actively feeling the world glitch? Seems painful. Like she also has to play the role of Amanda but is trying to have some semblance of control of her life. I wonder if the next game will sorta conclude the series. Those donations look like it funded a library bunker rather than a kids corner. I liked the attic better, but this seems like a bridge to the bunker. The bunker might be scarier. I think theres a balance between the horror and the puzzles that the first game had better. Probably only noticeable due to the length of the second one. I think Jordan was the new lore here. They could add in more kids since hamln seems to have existed for a real long time and that they had a tv show. Anyone could be involved really, not just kids. They do have a good jumpscare opportunity with when you turn back to the room. But not in the freddy kinda way where they jump at you and scream. They did it with the monkeys and that was actually really well done. Id say they could do more of it but ease into the whole room changing or something sinister just being there. Cause the tapes are usually long enough to where you wouldnt expect something and will potentially make you jump lol. I do hope we get more scares in the future.

Even if Wooly comes out to be the twist villain, I do think it’s one of those unwillingly evil kind of situation, like he seems as if he’s genuinely trying to cheer Amanda up despite the fact that he’s steering her away from negativity…I think Rebecca is in a coma and that’s possibly what’s keeping her alive at this point, just modern science but I think the fact that things can be pulled into the tapes could also mean the opposite is possible, so what if in the real world it’s Rebecca’s body and in the show it’s her soul/spirit and the two demons are used interchangeably to both keep her in (her demon) while also trapping others inside (the “sheep” demon) and what if what makes Wooly weird isn’t that he’s the “sheep” demon but rather he’s able to leave whenever he can…what if Wooly works for Hamln and is there to keep Amanda in check but is able to leave and come back at will (since we have instances where he’s literally not there or like in the first game he just disappears when stuff gets bad) and if anything it’s seems like Wooly is just some dude who got roped into some advanced babysitting for a REALLY creepy and depressed kid

I agree with what Manly said at the end of the vid/his review/wrapup. This game comes off as "an experience" form of game, where replayability is almost non-existent and the draw is that first playthrough. Once you've played through it and experienced or have seen everything there is almost no incentive to replay due to lack of gameplay. There are a few puzzles scattered throughout, but it almost makes me wonder if Amanda would've been better off as a creepy video series instead of a game. A staggering amount of "mascot horror" games are guilty of this I've noticed.

You are literally my favorite person to watch play games Manly if you told me 2 years ago I'd be watching another human do this kind of thing I'd call you a liar but I'm hooked thanks for existing sir.

I find it absolutely adorable that for all the horror stuff Manly does, the most excited I ever heard him was when he saw the monkeys!

At 41:12 Peter says "We have to hit the pause button on this." I think there might be another tape or Easter Egg if you pause there. Also, the clothes in the closet at 57:41 seem to be a code where you can match up the outfits on the multi-puzzle block that might also give you another tape or something.

Huh. It's pretty perfect coincidental timing that Amanda cuts you off just as soon as you mention Touhou's lore. Plus, she mentions bringing her backpack, which is a good idea! you can bring supplies, like food! After all, it'd suck if you starved to death before you could reach the safety of the Hakurei shrine or human village. ... Or got eaten by Rumia. Or got your soul ripped out of your butt by Nitori. Or lethally poisoned by Medicine. Or turned into a zombie by Seiga (like she did with Yoshika). Or pranked by fairies (a _bit_ less lethal, but could easily make it easier for a different bad fate to occur), or... Well, I think I've made the point. Seriously, the series keeps things light-hearted, but hoo boy is there a dark underlayer of horror for any outsiders who find themselves in Gensokyo. DiPP is probably the only time the series has even semi-canonically dipped it's toes into the darker side of the lore... Unless you count the offhanded explanation of how the 'spiriting away' phenomenon is caused by Yukari bringing people who won't be missed from the outside world into Gensokyo to feed the man-eating youkai, so they don't eat villagers. Great place to read about. Terrifying place to _actually_ visit.

Do you remember that flash of the hospital lights and then Rebecca in the hospital on the tape? Obviously these have something to do with eachother but I’m curious as to what. Edit: and WOW the walkie talkie at the end of Joanne was brutal but so eerily perfect. I love this game, I love the gigantic story the devs are painting for us, it’s just so amazing, they made you think it would be some cliche horror tapes with a possessed cartoon but it was SO MUCH MORE! You feel that Rebecca is still a little girl stuck in this purgatory, you feel for Sam. And now everyone thinks that wooly is actually one of the bad guys in this…it’s just so awesome, I love this game and its puzzles and its stories.

Something hilarious about imagining a scenario where a possum just keeps ruining an otherworldly entities day.
