A note for myself - 100% acetone, in a small bowl - Buffing cubes in different ranges - Nail files - Nail pusher - Cuticle oil - Cardboard, tea towel, napkin / paper towel 1. File with the buffing cubes (coarse -> medium -> fine) 2. Soak nails in the acetone bowl (protect the furniture underneath) 4. Remove the polish with the nail pusher effortlessly (If you need to force, stop there & put the nails back in acetone for a few more minutes) 5. Smooth out with the fine buffing cubes 6. Shape the nail tips with the files 7. Apply the cuticle oil & rub

@yaniradeltororivera5981 try putting the bowl on a coffee cup warmer instead. So much easier. Just make sure you prepare and put it on the warmer in advance to allow the acetone enough time to warm up. About 15 minutes or so ahead for a small amount. The big benefit of this vs. a bag of water is that it stays consistently warm, allowing time to take your hand out to scrape if needed, repeat until you're done, etc. Doesn't get too hot, either, just the right temperature. You can always put a thin piece of fabric underneath the bowl as a heat buffer if you're sensitive to the the temperature, but I use it this way and don't find it too hot. Hope this is helpful!

I had the same problem. I work in a medical center the soap is so harsh on skin and nails. So I'd get a regular manicure and use gel polish. I found a complete game changer! Take a quart size freezer bag, fold a paper towel up and place inside bag. Pour in acetone. Put your hand in and put a heating pad under the bag and fold over your hand. Takes less than 10 minutes and no scrapping or filing. So easy and amazing! Plus the bag you can throw away so less stuff to wash out.

I usually just use 180 grit to file off all of them completely and proceed with 4-way buffer because gel nails really withstand acetone. It takes less time tbh! Just make sure to go around the nail when filing so you don’t file one part too much and then having another part of the nail still covered with gel so they come off altogether at the same time to prevent filing your natural nail bed. Hope that make sense! -a nail tech

Let me know how you like your kit!! Foils definitely work - I just have the most difficult time using them on myself. And you're right -- it really does depend on how careful you are during removal. I know you’re not asking me BUT I usually keep my gel nails on for a week or 2? I will say the longer you’ve had them on the less time you’ll probably need to put them in acetone. If there just a few days old it’ll obviously take a little longer but the acetone will do it’s job either way to take it all off🤗 Idk if that answers your question🫢 sorryyyyy

What is advantage to doing this over wrapping foil ? It's more comfortable to me to wrap and wait rather than dip my fingers in a bowl of acetone
@AmandaBellaa5 жыл бұрын
Just another option - many people find it difficult and uncomfortable to use foils on themselves. I personally find it takes longer. But everyone is different!
@amyr92304 жыл бұрын
Not only is it annoying to wrap them up and for me it took longer. Being a right handed person I can always wrap up on left hand but then when it gets to my right hand I can only do about two nails before I can’t do the rest and the two I was able to do took some time lol (that’s because I choose to do both hands together opposing to doing one hand, waiting and then the other). Also I did the foil process today because people are always telling me it’s quicker. I soaked a cotton ball in 100% acetone and wrapped my left hand and two fingers on my right hand and left them for 25 minutes. Once I removed them none of the dip powder came completely off. It did work but didn’t take it all off and my dip powder was pretty thin plus I used an electric file to file it down even more. I again filed as much as I could off with my electric file and was about to start a second process and then I was like maybe I’ll try to acetone, hot water and dipping my hand in method to see if it’s quicker. Holy cow it was! I dipped my nails (my right hand which still had all the dip powder in tact because it barely cake off the first two nails I tried) for 15 minutes and I took them out to check on them and it was completely gone. I probably didn’t even need 15 minutes, I could’ve did 10 and it would’ve been off. & then I finished soaking off my left hand which took less than 5 minutes. The one thing I do hate about doing the soak off method is that it drys my fingers out and if you have cuts it burns. But I ended up washing my hands and applying lotion and my fingers feel fine now,
@TunTheOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Okay so I finally found a solution to removing *Modelones Nail Gel UV/LED soak off gel.* Turns out out of desperation I tried everything and Soaking cotton pads and folding them in half with Acetone nail polish remover then placing them on the nail, wrapping it with Aluminum foil and letting sit tight enough that it wont fall off for 10 minutes/15 mins + then getting a wooden/metal scraper and pushing the nail polish off gently. Lastly open the used foil paper and take the acetone cotton pad, and clean off the access nail polish and it should be back to normal! I'm sitting here satisfied after being stuck with my old nail polish on my toes for 4 days lol. Thought I'd share the Progress. ♡♡♡

I went to a small Thai manicure shop down the street from my house, finally, my nails were long and healthy and I decided to add the gels for strength. I had French tips and they were the most beautiful nails I've ever had.(I usually only get pedicures.) I was truly astonished for 2 months but. I realized they used the rotating nail file of death every time they removed the gels. I thought they were only taking off the gel and not my nail layers- that darn lazy way I knew this was not a good thing but didn't think to look on KZbin- silly me. They took off so many layers of my nails they started bending with the gels on the middle of my nail bed! So painful! I had them taken off -now my nails are paper thin -with layers growing out- frayed and thin I have to file them several times a day. I couldn't touch my nails for about 2 weeks the nail beds were so exposed and thin, I couldnt' even reach into my purse without pain. .Word to all- do not let them use that auto round file- do this instead. All too late for me it will take me 4-5 months to grow my nails out. Now to yelp the salon.

Thank you for your informative video! You're cute! Unfortunately, this isn't working on my gel manicure I had done in a salon. I've filed profusely without damaging the nail underneath and already had my nails soaking for 20+ minutes with no luck. I am going to try adding salt to my water and a hot towel. Hopefully the hot towel will help. Curious why this isn't working for me.

I'm so sorry it's not working for you! I'm really unsure what it could be. Once in a while my polish is SO stubborn & I just end up having to soak extra long. There's another video on my channel featuring finger clips for gel removal that work AMAZING! It's linked in the description of this video! :)

Well I started using gel without knowing how if all works, so when taking it off I just peeled it off taking the top layers of my nail off too..... so it’s needless to say that I needed this thank you. I mean I knew it was gonna come off but it’s still not good for the nails do here I am doing proper research.

Thanks for watching! Yes, definitely try to avoid peeling the polish off if possible. The weak portion will grow out & the nails will come back in stronger! 💪🏼💅🏼

The tip of buffing off as much nailpolish is a really good one! The instructions on the brand i ordered from said to just buff off the shine to let the acetone soak in better. But after 10+ minutes it still didn’t want to come off easily and i ended up damaging my nails by scraping it off lol. I’ll just buff them more next time

I do the same process when I remove my gel. I can’t stand wrapping them in foil, I feel like it takes forever!

Does using a file to take most the Polish off not tarnish your file a lot quicker??
@AmandaBellaa2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the file! A heavier grit works quickest & best for surface buffing. Lasts the longest too! ❤️

the salon I go to charges 10 bucks to remove which I find ridiculous. You have beautiful fingernails!

kathy k did you get acrylic nails with gel on top?? If so, I do not recommend this method because it will ruin the acrylic as well.
@sparkiekat75 жыл бұрын
@@2010gisselle yes I do have acrylics with gel on top
@2010gisselle5 жыл бұрын
kathy k This is only good to do when you solely have gel polish on your natural nails. If you soak your acrylic nails in acetone it will also deteriorate the acrylic. Hope this helped 😅

You do this without any acetone?
@mrod87 Жыл бұрын
this is my exact process except i put warm water in a bowl and put acetone and a bit of cuticle oil in a ziploc bag...the heat from the water helps to speed up the removal for some reason. i find that when i just use acetone in a bowl/cup im soaking for like 20 minutes...i can get the polish totally off in under 10 if i use heat.
@beancooks5 жыл бұрын
I absolutely hate using acetone at all on my nails, so I usually use professional grade files to file the gel polish all the way down. 240 grit to get towards the natural nail, then I go down to 180 grit once to prevent me from taking off my natural nails.
@AmandaBellaa5 жыл бұрын
Oh my gosh - so you jus file it off completely!? That's really impressive!
@BeccaXHarpey4 жыл бұрын
Can you reuse the acetone? Like with foils I think u would use less than pouring it in the bowl so could you use it again in 2weeks time?
@AmandaBellaa4 жыл бұрын
Sometimes I do!! Not sure how sanitary that is, though I'm the only one using the acetone, but sometimes I'll remove the polish from the bowl and pour the acetone back into the bottle. It'll definitely still work!

I have a question when the gel grows out does it make your nails longer and not break
@AmandaBellaa4 жыл бұрын
It does help your nails to grow & not break since it's adding a strong/protective layer! But the gel is not making the actual nails stronger.

@barbarawolters89365 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video! I use to be able to do my own nails but now I am horrible at painting them; eyesight, etc. For special occasions, I get the gel polish and hate it when the nail techs start scraping before the acetone has a chance to soak awhile. Now I know exactally what to do to remove it at home before my next appointment. If I don't have anything special coming up, I like to rotate the gel polish with just a manicure and clear polish, to give my nails a chance to breathe. And yes, they do charge extra to remove the gel polish.
@AmandaBellaa5 жыл бұрын
So crazy that they charge...especially if they originally applied it! I need to start alternating between regular and gel, I'm just scared I'm going to break one! Glad you found this helpful -- good luck!!

Hi! I just want to know what is that thing you used to scrape your nails? And what if I did not buff my nails and put it on the acetone? Is it recommended? I'm sorry I'm asking too many questions. Just a first timer.
@AmandaBellaa5 жыл бұрын
No such thing as too many questions! The tool I used to scrape is an acrylic powder spoon! And yes, you much use 100% acetone - it's the only kind of remover that will dissolve the polish. Buffing is not mandatory, but it helps thin out the remaining polish and makes the removal process go quicker! :)
