I watch alot of other crocheters on KZbin, and have tried in vain to learn the shell stitch. I watched yours and got it right off the bat! Thank you soooooo much!!!

It's okay Amanda, As I am learning to crochet I'm falling more and more in love with the many different shell stitches as well. Thank you! For teaching me these beautiful stitches. I can't understand any of the crochet books directions at all. You are a wonderful instructor.

Great tutorial, Amanda. I love this shell stitch pattern. Can you please also do a Crochet 101 on the Closed Shell Stitch? That's the stitch you used to make the Shell Stitch Scarf. I know the two shell stitches are quite similar, but I think it would be nice for other viewers to have that stitch as a stand-alone tutorial. I love your Crochet 101 tutorials and all your tutorials in general. Keep up the great work. :)

Thanks Haley! I will add this to my list. I appreciate all your suggestions as I’ve been in a little bit of a crochet rut lately. You’ve provided so many wonderful ideas, so I wanted to thank you for that. 😊

I totally understand what you mean. I will certainly keep those ideas coming. I'm glad you like them. I love giving other people ideas, especially crocheters on KZbin who I watch all the time. I will crochet one type of project for a while, get bored of it and will try to find new ideas. I had another thought. I know you have that face scrubbie pattern. Have you ever considered making face scrubbies that are double-thick? You make two circles or squares, depending on the shape you want and then sandwich them together and single crochet them together. I bet maybe some of those really textured stitches would be good for a pattern like that, particularly if you use regular cotton yarn. A lot of times, I have seen these types of scrubbies made from Scrubby Yarn that has the scrubby fiber in it, and I have sensory processing disorder, and so touching yarns like Red Heart Scrubby feels weird. I would love to see more spa-themed patterns. Ever since that Summer Spa Getaway CAL, I've been trying to make items for people so they can pamper themselves. LOL.

I had another idea for you. On the spa note, you should make soap savers. I would love to see you design some of those and do video tutorials on them. They are so popular now and perfect for any spa basket. I like making them in the round, but I have also seen designs where you make a rectangle and seam it together and add the drawstring. I prefer making them in the round though. There are all kinds of stitches you could use for them. Making them in the round seems to be easier for me because then they are all the same size. They are so exfoliating and easy on the skin, and it helps you save your little soap scraps that you get from the leftover bars of soap.

@@haleytyrrell9609 This will be added to my crochet to make list, that's for sure! I had no idea they were so popular, but I agree, they would make great additions to spa gift sets. Thanks!

@@haleytyrrell9609 That's a great gift idea! I haven't made any double thick face scrubbies, but I can add it to my list as well. I may have to do my own spa CAL myself in the future. :)

I just noticed your video and written instructions are different. I love the look of your blanket. I chained 187 to start my blanket. Did the written with 4 dc and 1 sc. worked out perfect to the end. Then I watched video and you say 5 dc in each so I ripped it all out and started again. It didn’t work out by the end. So now ripping it out again I will just stick to the written and put 4dc.

Hi Carol! You can follow along with either the written pattern or the video tutorial. There are a few different ways to make the shell stitch, so both options are included. I hope you enjoy!

Do you think i could make a shell stitch adult blanket using a bulky 5 yarn with 9mm hook?
@AmandaCrochets
@AmandaCrochets 4 жыл бұрын
Of course! You could always work up a swatch to see if you like how it looks before committing to a full blanket. Remember to keep the swatch in a multiple of 6+2. Good luck!
@margueritegarza8371
@margueritegarza8371 4 жыл бұрын
Amanda Crochets thought it was 6 + 1?
@AmandaCrochets
@AmandaCrochets 4 жыл бұрын
@@margueritegarza8371 Yes, you're correct, 6+1. I've done other shell stitches where it was 6+2.

What border do you recommend for a shell stitch blanket? I really don’t like the beginning chain on the bottom-it just doesn’t look as pretty as the last shell stitch row
@AmandaCrochets
@AmandaCrochets 4 жыл бұрын
I usually do a shell stitch border as well. Or maybe if you wanted, you could try a ribbed border.
@margueritegarza8371
@margueritegarza8371 4 жыл бұрын
Amanda Crochets I’ve watched your video on making a ribbed border on the top and sides but not sure how to do it on the bottom (starting chain). I have been watching and learning how to crochet from watching your videos so I guess I’m still probably considered a beginner!

I did make a baby blanket using the shell stitch border but wasn’t sure if it looked kind of “odd” having an “”upside down “ shell border right underneath a “right side up shell”. Trying to figure out how to send you a pic of what I’m talking about! Maybe I’ll look for your email
@AmandaCrochets

@@margueritegarza8371 It won't look odd at all! It's my absolute favorite border to use. :)

Amanda Crochets so do you recommend I figure out how to do a straight edge all around and then a round of shell stitch, or just do a regular shell stitch all around? I remembered that I already send you a pic of a shell stitch baby blanket (last month) but not sure if I like the 2 upside down rows on the starting chain side of the blanket
