I didn’t got offended Amanda... if you could understand latinas real struggles on living in USA and how much racism, stereotyping and bullshit we get from some white people you would be more conscious on how you say that kind of stuff... I’m sure your mom had those struggles too, where people judge you or make fun of you for your accent or treat you like if you’re worthless just because you come from a third world country. Imagine if I were half latina- half American and I did the same kind of comment “doing American and white stuff” what kind of stuff? It’s not bad at all that you are half Latina, don’t get me wrong. It’s perfect that you are trying to connect with your roots I have been a fan of yours since 2015 and I have seen videos were you talk about how it bothers you when people label you as “exotic” when they find out you have Hispanic roots. I’m just stating that that comment you made is contributing to that stereotype were latinas are classified as different kind of people from white people. We are all the same. As an advice... and I’m giving it as a fan of yours not a hater: please use your platform to get rid of those stereotypes, so instead of building walls or borders between us we can create bonds.

She has said in other videos that she grew up in a very small town in Tennessee and despite her mom being Puerto Rican and a few fam trips to PR she really wasn’t exposed to the culture, food, language, etc. So now that she is more exposed to other cultures, especially Latin she is embracing being a Puerto Rican & all the beautiful things that is being a Latina. . I grew up in a big, diverse city, Spanish speaking household not truly appreciating everything (language, food, music) until I was a teenager & I regret it but like her it’s never too late. ❤️🇵🇷 🇵🇷 🇵🇷 🇵🇷

Hi Amanda...so what I've learned in life is that people are always going to talk, so pay no attention to them. I was born in Puerto Rico, and moved to NY at the age of 13. I was basically raised in N.Y. but traveled each year to PR to visit my family. It's been 30 plus years now, and my friends or family from PR don't consider me enough puertorican to talk about anything regarding the island. It's crazy and probably I have visited tons of places in the island more than what my friends and family visit living there. So whatever!! I am puertorican and can cook anything from Puerto Rico!!!...anything. don't pay attention to them and embrace your ethnicity. Hugsss❤❤

Girlll I feel you on the identity crisis lol. I’m half Mexican half white, I look Mexican but talk “white” or so I’m told. I don’t speak Spanish. I grew up in foster care so I really didn’t get in touch with my Mexican roots. Also, I was adopted and my last name is Peruvian. So yeah it’s been a struggle. I’m not “Mexican” according to Mexicans (especially in SoCal) and I def don’t look white so I’m lost 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Melissamonique I was adopted too when I was 3. My mom is white and my dad is Mexican. 👈🏽 My adoptive parents, I only say "adoptive" because people tend to get confused when I say mom and dad, they ask your "real parents?" 🤦🏽‍♀️) I only spoke Spanish when I was adopted, but learned English because my parents didn't speak Spanish. I always hate when people and sometimes my family joke that I'm so "white." I'm proud of my biological DNA, lol (I've taken 23andme and ancestry DNA) and I'm proud of my upbringing as well. I guess because I look Mexican, I'm expected to act and sound a certain way 🙄 This is me and if I don't fit societies "norms" based on how I look than... Oh well 🤷🏽‍♀️ lol

I definitely agree with you. I’m Puerto Rican (from both sides of my biological mother and father) but was raised by my step mom who is Italian since I was a little girl. Many people have told me that I “sound white”.. and that bothered me because I felt like I didn’t belong. But regardless of what people say you are who you are don’t let anyone tell you different!
