So so so helpful! My fall 2024 semester hasn't even started, but my brain is so focused on my final semester in spring 2025. Your video was very insightful!

Honestly, the way you planned with other student teachers is amazing and mirrors collaborating on a grade-level team. My student teaching experience and my first year of teaching, I was the ONLY teacher teaching that grade level my subject areas (1st year I was departmentalized Science and Writing 3rd-5th and 6th grade departmentalized Science and Social Studies for two years). I had NO one to collaborate with (content-wise, but we still shared the same students). Things got a LOT better when I joined a grade-level team and became self-contained 3 years later. Sharing the workload is great!

Hey Amanda :) loved your video 💓 makes me feel good going into my senior yr at the UA! I have tons of anxiety for the AEPA Prof Knowledge Test… do you have any tips or advice for that?

I wish i did, i had now idea what to expect and didn’t even study and passed 🫢😅 idk if i recommend that tho! The type of content i believe is something that is hard to study and something that i used my best judgment on with handling situations professionally!

How did it go when student teaching ended? Did you return to normal routine after, were you offered a job as a full time teacher for the next school year? I start student teaching at the end of this month and I’m curious to know how that will end up since there will still be another half of the school year. Ideally I’d like to be able to do some sort of work in the school (aide, or sub) but I feel like I might end up having to continue my other jobs until next school year

I'm in California, to get a credential you have to graduate, you don't student teach or get into a program until you have your BA. Also, no idea what an education major is, here you major in anything then enter the program. You also have to prove basic knowledge in a test then a special big, big test showing you know your subject matter (unless your major is English, the you don't need to take that test but that's a new thing sinse covid, as well as if you majored in history and Wan to teach social science, that's not the same, but I disagree, but you can prove your mastery of the sun next making sure your classes cover all the tests domains). You also don't get to pick your grade, only elementary, middle or high school. When you get a job, you still don't get to pick, you get assigned. Sometime the job posting will be for a specific grade, but otherwise it's just got elementary. Seems California really is a harder state to get credentials.. We'll worth it though!

Yeah definitely! I’m from California and it’s process is very different from other states from what I’ve heard and experienced. Now that I’ve completed my first year teaching, when i applied I did apply for either a specific grade level or grade level band and yes it did change the first time! And I’ve applied to work at another school this year and was able to transfer to the grade level I wanted!
