Nothing wrong with adopting what we call a mid-Atlantic accent if it is not forced and comes naturally to you . I noticed you dropped your Ts ( glottal stops) a few times and have heard you slip in a few Anglicisms here and there. Quite endearing, actually. Also, if you live in this country and pay taxes you are perfectly entitled to complain about poor service whether it be re the NHS or anything else

Another key one is don't refer to our homes as 'quaint' and generally treat locals as if they're theme park attendants - we live here and not for the pleasure of visitors. (Grew up in a Cotswold village - very much see all the negative US tourist stereotypes in full swing all year round, ended up practicing French to pretend to not be local and deter engagement.)

"Y'all right?" as a greeting is no less odd, when you think about it, than "How are you?" (or the "How's it going?" you hear a lot here in New Zealand). Pretty much the same question, and only requiring "Good, and you?" as a response. Another thing which can be annoying is thinking something is wrong because it's not done the same way as where you're from. It's not wrong, just different. Embrace the difference.

He is correct about accents, I live in Dundee, Scotland but the people who live in Perth, Arbroath, Forfar, no more 20 miles from from me have a different accent, the one that gets me in Scotland is Edinburgh and Glasgow, only 40 miles apart but we all know which city they are from straight away

the one thing or two things really that slightly irk me (annoy for the yanks) is when someone says British accent or calls me British, a lot of the yank and canuck gamers i play with do it on purpose to torment me as im fond of tormenting them quite often (bonding), a phrase i like to use often is "im not British im English, the other 3 are British" referring to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, b4 anyone points out that i am British as well as being English its done as a joke, a lot of the differences between England and America are flipsides of each other imo, we are all products of our environment and upbringing and it shapes a lot of the way we view things and can sometimes be hard to look past

As an Aussie we, I think anyway, can bag on the royals, same as any country that is part of the monarchy, just like people from England who don't like the royals, we weren't given a choice. Our puplic health system is great, but as with the UK wait times can suck, I waited 13 months to see a neurologist which was supposed to be within 3 months, I feel the Brits anger/dismay towards the NHS.

The North doesn`t stop at Cumbria, Scotland has a much bigger landmass than England then, there is Wales and Ireland. Where accents are concerned and this is aimed at those from the USA - Just because your great great great Granny sailed on a ship to the USA does not make you Scottish and feel obliged to put on a fake Scottish accent esp., when you try it in Glasgow, you`ll be given a short sharp lesson in manners and laughed at. I would say that if you fly into Heathrow and want to see England or the rest of Britain don't start looking until you get outside the M25, please!!! Better still, fly into Gatwick or Stansted which are already outside the M25 and you'll have a head start. For those who don't know the M25 is the London orbital motorway, a lot of the time it's also Britain's biggest car park.

I can't help but wonder just what visitors to the country are actually doing to assume that most of these things (in the video) bother any native Brits.
