Your dad going with you to make sure it’s safe is so cute and genuine! I’m glad you enjoyed your time and are willing to help others go as well. I always feel like going to other countries is incredible because you learn so much and it truly does humble you realizing not everyone is as blessed as we are. Yet they make the best out of it! 🤗

We could be robbed/kidnapped/raped/hurt in any country and for people to demonize travelling to India is so unfair. It is one of the most beautiful and warm places in the world. Great video. Thanks for sharing. I practiced ashtanga from 2006 to 2011... I stopped in 2012 to have a baby, went vegan in 2017. Lost a lot of weight... All of that back story just to say, April 2018, I bound for the first time in marychasana A.... I practiced for many years with people who could bind on the first day... It taught me to turn my focus inward and not look at anyone else... Follow your breath, engage your bandas and breathe :-)

Thanks so much, babe. You are glowing after this training. Sounds magical. I'm between two YTT options right now: this one and another. I'm really thankful for your perspective. I know this YTT is traditional, but is there room for exploring or being creative in your practice or teachings? That's one of the things that is important to me in a training. I really would love to go to the yoga capital of the world. So beautiful and I love the spiritual aspects.

I just received my 200 hr where I live in Northern California, I received a scholarship from the owner of a studio I maintain the front desk at, and it was magical. This definitely however intrigues me and makes me want to obtain my 500 ytt at this school in India. I wonder though if I would be capable of the advanced 300 or 500 ytt there just because in my training here we didn't focus on ashtanga or vinyassa at all. Anyways thanks for the share

Hey love!! so awesome to hear you loved your teaching course. I'm not sure, it would be best to email them (tell them I sent you :) ) to ask. I know that the 300 program they have builds off of the Ashtanga primary series into the Intermediate series so it might not be ideal for you since you didn't do ashtanga or vinyasa. Just ask to double check!

Water from river Ganga is holy water. You store it fir years and it will not smell at all. Indians pray river Ganga or Mother Ganga, bring water home in bottles for rituals / pooja. It’s pure coming down from Himalayan mountain. Regarding protein, plants are best source of protein. You do not need any powder, just be organic and connect to nature like your ancestors. India is heaven for Veg lovers.

I also studied yoga teacher course 200 hours at the same school in October 2018. I loved it too! But not everything was perfect: sometimes electricity was off, not always hot water available (due to it is India and it's up on the mountain). But the atmosphere was family-like and very friendly!! And I loved the teaching, practicing classes with all the guys, food and schedule. Amazing time!

Wearing a tanktop anywhere in India is definitely NOT ok. Just because most of the tourists do it and some of the locals in touristy locations have even resigned and pretend to accept this disrespectful behaviour doesn't make it acceptable. You are one of the very few who have given thought to this, and for this I applaud you, and even if you decided to wear a tanktop anyway (which by the way makes you naked in the eyes of the locals) I think you are one step ahead of 99% of western tourists. I had a young and modern thinking friend from India visit me in Germany and he was totally surprised that most people here are married or live in long-term partnerships. As absurd as it sounds, for him it made totally sense, that people who run around naked should have multiple partners. This is the image created by the scantily clad tourists in India (and Indonesia and many other countries) .

Amanda, as someone who does bodybuilding to keep myself in shape and toned, how do I go about preparing for the yoga course since I’d have no access to a gym nearby or anything. I’ve spent so much time building my glutes and I’m worried they’re gonna go away once I begin my 200hr yttc. I tend to gain weight real quick if I don’t do my workouts or follow my meal plan. Any tips or advices?
@amandavsevilla6 жыл бұрын
glutes come and go... what is more important to you? yoga to me was such a transformative experience that transcended my bodily image. i guess it depends on what you want to spend your life focusing on
@KD-dr3gy5 жыл бұрын
Yaa you might just have to get creative. You can do a lot with rice, water and concrete! Haha maybe you'll have to go crossfit style, but as Amanda said..maybe that's a sacrifice you can consider short term. You can always work on your glutes when you come back. You'll be doing lots of yoga in the heat and eating vegitarian/vegan so your weight should stay balanced. As far as I see, the program is about a month long so while you may lose a little glutes, if you're a body builder they shouldn't just disappear in such a short time.
@kaylab4267 Жыл бұрын
Same here , grew my glutes a lot with weight lifting . But my school offers vegan diet as an alternative. We are allowed to eat out if we want . Did you end up doing it? How did you retain your muscles as much as possible?
