i used to be a very intense follower of traditional idol groups and independent idols and the concept of an idol wasn't so nebulous. Only 5 or so years ago, working as an idol implied a specific set of activities, almost none of which are done by hololive or many other vtubers. Of course that was then and I can appreciate now how they can be considered idols, but even still, I don't fully consider them idols.
