Another great video, mate. I started a 60 l temperate tank in July, that has now built up to 8 x Blue Danio, 8 x Amano shrimp and a trio of Zebra Nerites. When I introduced the shrimp, they were about 2-3 cm, but some of them (the females) are already almost twice the size. From pretty much the get-go, it seems there's always been at least one berried female in the tank, which in turn has prompted me to set up a shrimp only tank to try my hand with Neocaridina. Considering I got into the hobby with thoughts only of keeping fish, it came as a complete surprise just how quickly and completely shrimp have endeared themselves to me. * p.s. we chatted a few days ago about moss ledges and you said if I wanted, to give you a shout, how would we best get in touch?
@DanielKeepingFish4 жыл бұрын
Haha, that's how it gets you. Then you end up with multi tank syndrome and a KZbin channel. I have been working on a tank just now set at 25 degrees with 60 Gold Whitecloud Mountain Minnow, Asian Rummienose, Gold Veijita Apistogramma, Black Cory Catfish (which are actually temperate fish), Ramshorn and Malaysian Trumpet Snails, Amanos and Cherry Shrimp. Swiftly becoming my favourite tank I've ever done. If you have Instagram you can message me on there: Daniel Keeping Fish. Is it to get some of those ledges? I can message the owner of the company to ask if they are still selling them and get the information of where to get them if you need.

Awesome little dudes I’ve had shrimp and things in the past but not for a while....Jack is very interested in different colored crayfish and we may be looking into a tank on my office rack for that after we finish his whole bedroom project....I used to have electric blue crayfish for a while and really enjoyed them....
@DanielKeepingFish4 жыл бұрын
I'd love to try Crayfish especially with some of the amazing colours some of them have. I just worry that they'll attack some of the smaller fish and have a go at my plants. Did they do that when you kept them?
@jackanddan4 жыл бұрын
Daniel Keeping Fish they certainly can and you have to watch what you put together like anything....some of them got pretty huge and I would toss in guppies and even goldfish and they would smash them....

Daniel - I'm a fan of your channel. A quick question here on Amanos. I'm getting 4 of these guys tomorrow. I know you use Eihem pickup canister from your other videos. Do you usually cover them up? I'm conscious they might go inspecting in there. Have lost a few shrimps in my previous canister filter but it had a bigger opening. Wondering if you have experienced any shrimp losses or if you've it covered up? Thank you in advance!
@DanielKeepingFish3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for saying so Nimesh, feels real good to hear that. No I don't cover the Eheims. The odd cherry shrimp makes it's way in. I just tip them out again when I'm doing my maintenance but I've never had a problem with Amano disappearing in them myself. They tend to be strong enough to beat the water getting drawn in and too big for the gaps anyway. Enjoy your new Amano. They're real nice shrimp.
@82easyrider3 жыл бұрын
@@DanielKeepingFish Great to hear that. You're right, they were quite agile the moment I put them into the tank, vanished into their hiding spots in a jiffy. Your channel is different in the sense they are pretty insightful, with very diligent observations of fish behaviour but also, do not make major claims, unlike a lot of the folks ive come across in fish forums who sometimes confuse opinions for facts! ;-) Hope you'll keep posting more stuff!

Hey DKF, I was wondering if you could do another vid on your keyhole cichlids if you still had them Not too much information on them out there, and your older video was great but another one just showing them off would be pretty cool ;)
@DanielKeepingFish4 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry Alex I do not have them any more I'm afraid. Unfortunately I lost my fish room when a family member came to stay with us so I only have half the tanks I had previously and they were one of the species I had to give up. I really miss them though so I hope to be able to keep them again at some stage, they're really nice little Cichlids. I know of another channel: Lee and Mandy Battersby. They have Keyholes and might be willing to do a video about them. I'm really sorry I am unable to do it for you at this time but I'll message them and see if they would be able to come up with something so look out for their channel.
