People usually say, myself included "I could listen to X reading the phone book", though with Spader in-character one should totally expect him reverting to the distraction technique of regaling some vent of his life or somebody else's life to gauge how honest they are, so I could totally imagine Spader making up stories about the people in the book.

Mr. Spader is a tremendous talent. I've been convinced watching many of the episodes of The Blacklist that some of his lines were ad lib and very entertaining. I recall several in fact. The last episode, part cartoon and part whatever they had managed to produce before covid hit hard in NYC was very good. I like the staff snapshots etc. Nice people all of them. I hope that they have been able to produce some more episodes by working around the plague. Mr. Spader, if you read these comments, I want to say "Thank You". My wife and I enjoyed Blacklist together for years through her cancer. She is gone now since a year ago but we had a lot of laughs and good times watching the show. Thank you!

Reddington is smart enough to know, most of the time, there are "smart" adversaries out there and he has to use every resource to not let them beat him..There was one person who darned near beat him at every turn and he didn't know who it was. If I was to compare Reddington to another character, it would be Batman, but he uses a gun, among other weapons, and has a penchant for opponents to be dispatched to the next life. Dembee would be his nightmare version of Alfred, lol lol. Just my humble thoughts.

Sonny Badyal "...he can give a certain type of look while in character..." I just learned, from another youtube video, that he has a dry eyes condition. He was asked why does not wear contact lenses instead of prescription glasses for his increasing poor vision. He said contacts bother his eyes because he does not blink enough to keep his eyes moist. I always wondered why he had that unique, "I'm looking at you, but I'm seeing something more" look, which seemed to add something to all the characters he has played. It works really well with his the Reddington character. Reddington could probably tell an adversary, "Let's see who bllnks first" and win, lol. I don't think anyone would disagree about his years of big and small screen acting chops, but his eyes alone, should get an Emmy, lol. I'm thinking if there was a song done about Betty Davis' eyes, someone could do one about James Spader's/Raymond Reddington's eyes. My apologies for going on so long, but I am an old a$$ fan dude, with 13 years on him. Everyone else has seemed to have said all the great things about him, so these are my few little thoughts about an actor who does not ever seem to be acting and maybe that is what his greatness is all about....and those eyes👍.

@@sharon012490 Spoiler Alert: Mr. Kaplan betrayed Reddington (though in my opinion she didn't), and got shot, only to survive, and after a series of sabotages made by Mr. Kaplan, Reddington tried to repent and give her a private island only for her to order Tom Keen to unearth a briefcase with bones there, and she committed suicide by jumping off the bridge.

I can't believe I completely missed "The Blacklist" until last month (September 2021) when it popped up as a Netflix recommendation. OMG, OMG, where was I? Abducted by aliens and memory-wiped? Now, of course, I can binge-watch all 8 seasons, and even some of the latest season. Spader is a unique, natural presence, as evidenced in this interview, which makes the series totally believable, in spite of the improbable situations presented. I hope Spader never changes his philosophy on life and acting as it adds immeasurably to his performance. Thanks, James Spader.
