I really love how diverse and great Amaranthe really are. They can make new to how they feel with their heart's content, and still pay homage to their roots. This is really what they have been since the first album if you listen and think about it. Only now, they are less afraid to let their talent and personality shine. (As they have their history behind them.)

Probably not the song everyone expected as a first single, but... for me it sounds like a modern We Will Rock You. Amaranthe has never been a common band, that could be easily marked with a label (metal, modern metal or whatever it is). That Song is just a part of their evolution, a way to tell everyone of us "hey, I can do it..." And for heavens shake, they have done it!! Trust me, their new record will be awesome (there are some snippets around here). Just believe in them, just give them a chance... just listen to That Song with open mind and you'll love it. Mark my words!!

I’ve recently discovered this band. The thing that impresses me is the way they can mix genres seamlessly. Take this particular song as an example. It’s a little bit pop, a little bit urban, a little bit classic rock, and a little bit of what I’d call blue collar / working man’s blues. That’s a *lot* of very disparate elements to try to make one cohesive whole out of, but Amaranthe does it and makes it look easy.

I really like this. This is bloody amazing. Thing is, Amaranthe have never been afraid to dabble in electro/pop/etc, they're clearly not for people who think that everything lighter than Darkthrone is rubbish, this is the sort of stuff I want to hear when I listen to Amaranthe, love it!

The reason why we like Amaranthe.. is because they are more "pop" and "heavier" at the same time. If we wanted a pure metal band, don't even bother to listen to them, there are a lot of boring metal bands out there. This is Amaranthe! And they are also more creative and melodic 😎🤘

problem with this, is not that they are makeing pop music like this. the problem is that almost every amaranthe fan, is a fan cos its metal. this is not metal, so ofc ppl are gonna complain. if you turn it around then it would be like kanye west was suddenly makeing a deathcore album, out of nowhere. his fans are pop fans, Amaranthes fans are metal fans. so they will loose many fans if they continue with makeing these pop songs :l sadly

I don't get why all of you are saying that this song isn't like them or that they are selling out with this style, haven't you heard their past albums? They always had at least one song in an album that was a more pop-rock style, it doesn't mean they've changed their style or have suddenly gone pop, I think it's also why they called it "That Song". I for one love this song and it's style, and I'm still looking forward to hear the rest of heavier stuff from the new album :)

Can confirm. Big Papa Roach fan of 17 years here. A huge part of the so-called fanbase wants them back to the Nu-Metal, whilst these days they're happy churning out more rock focussed songs and doing their own thing. On the other side of the coin however, The band Memphis May Fire have been doing it the same old way for years. They like their sound so much they released "Carry On" which was basically an answer to record-execs and critics who wanted them to change... Good song that one is. Seems as a band you can't have it either way.

Wouldn't be an Amaranthe video if people in the comments are saying stuff like "What's next, a Kanye West song?" or "What's this shit? Go back to being metal." This is what Amaranthe has always done: doing whatever they want. One could also argue that there are double and even triple layers here, with it possibly being a parody of pop (which, again, Amaranthe has always sort of been, while simultaneously also being a love letter to pop) But at the heart of Amaranthe lies the message of "Do you for you, no one else.", and that is what they're doing here. They're unapologetically doing what they like. That's literally what the lyrics are about. This is Amaranthe saying "If you still can't tell we don't give one flying fuck about your labels, your genres, your styles, just go find another band to enjoy." for the final time. It's sending a message of hope and warning you at the same time. This is what Amaranthe does.

@levischorpioen8 жыл бұрын
GRAHAM ELY Well, it's obviously crafted as a concert song anyway, it's right there in the lyrics during the middle-eight: "Everybody come along, we're together for one night and together we belong". Yeah, it'll be an amazing song to hear live. I liken it to Delain's "We Are the Others" in terms of it being solely for those who get it. Those who don't, well, tough.
@levischorpioen8 жыл бұрын
***** You're missing the point by solely focusing on the instrumental side of it. I thought metalheads were all about interesting lyrics as well? Amaranthe has always been a bit of a gateway band, a heavier alternative for the pop-rock crowd and a fun alternative for the metal crowd. I honestly still don't see how this song is any different from what Amaranthe has always done. Where were the critics when Amaranthine came out? That song turned up the cheese factor thousandfold. Why is this song suddenly getting all the shit. Amaranthe has always been doing stuff for themselves. Tons of bands do that, why is it suddenly wrong to do so this time? Because it sounds mainstream? So what, Megadeth sounds mainstream and they're still well-respected. Meshuggah has been playing the same riffs for 20 years, where's the shit-talking about them? This song is about being one with your fanbase, it's about inspiration. If they can inspire just one person to pick up a guitar or a mic, their job is done. They just want to have fun and maybe inspire some people along the way to do what they feel they should be doing with their lives. That's what this song is about, and that's what Amaranthe themselves are about. Sure, they totally ripped off Queen with their 1-2-3 percussion beat. So? It still works all these decades later. The problem with metal elitists is that they, somewhere along the way, have forgotten that music ultimately is a form of entertainment. It's not illegal or dangerous to have some fucking fun for once in your life. Who cares if this is metal? Who cares if this is a standard beat and structure? Sorry not all bands are Deathspell Omega. This is a fun, cool, inspiring song that will have thousands of people bobbing their heads and dancing. You can either dance along or not show up. The choice is yours.

I think it's interesting that a lot of people are complaining about this song not being metal enough. Whether it is or isn't, that's not the point. I've been listening to Amaranthe since their first album and seen them live twice and if there's one thing I've learned about them is to understand that they're going to do whatever they want to do, have fun doing it, and break as many rules as they can while doing it. I'm not going to say that I like every song they've done cause I don't. But I do look forward to hearing more and more music from them down the road. @Zombot. Sorry, I have to disagree. I definitely do NOT love those songs. It's a good thing the album is already floating around on the net, so I was able to listen to it before ordering. Because even though I own all their previous albums, I think I'll pass on this one. My two main points of criticism: - Way too many harsh vocals on this album (seems like they really turned up Henrik's share in these songs, while I was actually hoping they would reduce it even further.). To me it completely ruins several of the songs, most notably Boomerang and Fury, which otherwise could have been great. - Way too many poppy influences on several of the songs (not just on That Song and Limitless). Sure, there are a couple of good songs too, but all in all, I am heavily disappointed.

I honestly don't get why so many people here dislike the song just because it is not metal. I think it is really great that Amaranthe can be different. Some changes don't always please people but if you really love a band you will be happy for what they try to do you don't have to like everything they do but you should still support it. This song isn't my favourite for one I prefer there old style but I don't hate it I think its nice it just not one of there best in my opinion.

You know I really dislike statements like this: "If you are a real true "band name here" fan." That's bullshit. So you are telling me ever one that disliked Metallicas St Anger is not a true fan? Yeah that's bullshit.

Fattar inte varför alla hatar denna låten, helt seriöst! Förändring är inte alltid bra men jag kan inte sluta sjunga på denna låten och jag ÄLSKAR DEN och videon, videon är så jävla bra och rolig! LOVE IT

This song is pretty weird, I think the album is solid though. But Elize in this video....whoa.

I don't think this song will be whole album style and I know this is a song just to make some fame and cash, but come on, how I'm supposed to not fall in love for Elize? ♥

OMG this song is so catchy. I like it so much, because there is so much good dark music and so little music for motivation JUST ADORE AMARANTHE
