The way she drawls when addressing Polly is frickin' awesome. Especially the way she says "spine" and then strides out of the room

The range of Maggie Smith's acting talent is staggering, simply superb: voice, inflection, tone, gesture, facial expression, posture, movement, use of scenery and props, and whatever else may be involved. She masters it all!

It has always been beyond genius, she has always had entire possession of her craft, amazing woman and performer. The late Charles Gray was an actor always blessed with wonderful timing.

It is funny that Maggie Smith confronted Polly Smith (Girlfriend) in previous episode! In time, Epiphania Whats-her-name Maggie Smith would become Dowager Countess Grantham Egyptian Doctor Tom Baker would become Dr Who Blenderbland Charles Gray would be the Bond Villain and ... Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock's older brother in Jeremy Brett series. What wonderful actors. Maggie Smith can hold you spellbound for hours. How does she do it? Hypnotic.

Cate Blanchett must have studied Maggie Smith in The Millionairess for her part as Jasmine in Blue Jasmine.

Women like that were very popularly represented in 70s television. Men missing a submissive woman who only aims to please and has no thoughts of herself.

Maggie Smith is great but so is Tom Baker (brilliant actor). Having Tom Baker not appear until the last minute of part 5 is such a huge waste of a great talent. Why do you have...... "and starring Tom Baker" in the description when most of the other characters get more screen time? I hope he has a lot more screen time in the rest of the episodes!
