kala namak is so damn tasty. I usually drink salted lassi only but trust me, if you also love salted lassi and don't want to put many things like bhuna jeera, mix of masalas, salt etc in the lassi, then simply put kala namak in the lassi and mix it. You will literally love it. Kisi aur cheez ki zarurat hi nahi padegi. Normal salt doesn't taste as good as kala namak.

This is how black salt is made in unorganised sector especially in villages, and sold in loose packet in rural areas and tier 3 places. But big companies like catch etc this salt is processed in automated factories factories using modern machines and proper care of hygiene is taken. I myself work in spice factory.

The same stuff make elsewhere - in Korea - for example they make their own version of bamboo salt - it is about 50 times more expensive and yes it is much more hygienic - lol. Awesome work. This is dream stuff. Bring Indian native stuff to the world

6:50 Nice video which explains the hard work behind the humble Black Salt that reaches our kitchens. What it also portrays is where we can check the hygiene part of the process as the finished product is kicked around on the ground with slippers and as can be seen, there isn’t any process of purification before it reaches us. I wonder if big spice companies ever intervene in this process or have witnessed the dirty part before the salt is powdered and packaged for sale ? Just curious. I don’t wish to undermine the hard work involved in the process but am concerned with the purity & cleanliness of the final product as it reaches us.

@Amar- Your video stands out in all respects. I was under a different conclusion that the Black Salt we consume, comes from Natural rocks mined in Rajasthan. But now my entire perception has changed towards it. I am now doubtful about the Nutritional value of this salt and if it has any health hazards when consumed on a long term basis. Same impressions here. I too thought black salt to be some kind of mineral salt mined and packed directly from Rajasthan. There's a kind of mineral salt found beside some jungle water sources in mountainous regions here in the northeast, which is dark in colour and has high nutritional and medicinal values. But it's not available to be mined or extracted on large scales for commercial distribution. Some indigenous people stock it for year long usage.

I think there is more to it e.g. when he was putting coal it went inside the pitcher pot. Again when he needed to check after few hours he directly put the metal rod inside to check, which is certainly not clean and other things than the ingredients also get melted together in the mixture. But since we only use minuscule amount to add a flavour nothing major thing has happened. Still it should be mechanised in today's age and workers definitely need to be treated better with safety measures taken properly. And Not giving chance to the western media who are waiting to diss everything which is made outside their country e.g. in ayurvedic indian Pharmacy their is no doubt about hygiene it is made in big factories with mechanised equipment. Still FDA doesn't approve ashwagandha. Their big pharma company pills with side effects are fda approved ,hypocrisy

There is nothing unhygienic in this process nor the product. On this much high temperature no microorganisms can survive. The end product is a chemical and its use may have some minor health implications but those implications are related to excess use and only due to the chemical properties of salt.
