Excellent information! It's so hard to find good information on keeping Amaryllis growing long enough to rebloom in cool climates! Thank you.

Thank you so much. I have so many Amaryllis that I have been taking care near Chicago for many years, never bloom. Brought them outdoor, lots of leaves but I never cut the leaves off, just ket them dried out and never ever bloom. This video gives me hope and show me what I did not do! Thank you again

If they have been growing for years and never bloomed, I think you need to unpot them and check the basal plates. Check out this video to see if you have a similar situation? Hope it helps you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m361o2lpedeNpM0

Again a splendid tutorial. Thanks. Do we need to send only mature bulbs to dormancy? How to care for smaller bulbs during this time please?
@SelectionLife3 ай бұрын
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. If you have a warm spot during winter(>65F/18C), you can continue caring for the smaller bulbs indoors near a window where they can get sunlight, if possible. This allows them to keep growing through the winter, which can shorten the time needed for them to mature and bloom.

As always, a beautiful video. Lovely music selection and very informative. Last winter, while counting my scales, it reminded me of Christmas. It was like opening gifts. I was excited to apply what you taught me. Question: I want my bulbs to spend their energy on themselves, but some reproduce, which I assume takes energy for the mature bulbs. Other than pulling them up and detaching the bulblets, is there any way to discourage this? I understand the plant's main goal in life is to reproduce. Would pulling them off cause damage to the mature bulb or delay blooming down the road?

Thank you, dear. Yes, having too many small bulbs can drain energy from the main bulb. I have several bulbs that keep producing bulblets instead of blooming! I'm not sure how to stop this. If anyone has advice, please share.🙏 It's best to remove the bulblets without unpotting the main bulb, as this will protect the mature bulb from damaging the roots. You can carefully remove the top layers of soil and gently pull off the bulblets.

How often does everyone fertilize after dormancy and what do you use? Thanks from a newbie!
