Fun fact, I had heard about NASA creating the Space Pen for way too much money and the Soviets just used a pencil. Well, NASA did know about pencil technology but had a legitimate concern about graphite shavings/ debris that could cause problems on the equipment they had. So, yeah not quite as dumb as we thought. Great content by the way.

Something about getting comms advice from a dude in a ski mask on KZbin feels very modern. American AF

Mag mounts even work really well just stuck to a metal cookie sheet.

Theyre a couple weeks out yet, and I cant find a review, what do think of baofeng offering a 6800mah OEM battery? Usb- c and everything.
@wildcatcomms11 күн бұрын
@tylerzmistowski5867 hey there! Baofeng is obviously the dominant brand in that space, but likely that Quansheng is taking a little bite from them. This new feature is likely due to Quansheng having USB-C charging. Personally I've moved away from Baofengs and switched to Quansheng 100% due to better reliability and OPEN FIRMWARE! Take care

@wildcatcomms I got the bf f8hp PRO on the spot when I found a notarubicon vid about it, literally my first whisper of an idea of ametuer radio, thank the algorithm. I realize for sure there are better options, but thats what I got to play with for Christmas. Got some stuff for it and the four AR5RMs to 'pass out' cause they were also 'unlocked' and shared batteries. Needless to say, after watching your more narrowly focused content, my priorities are much different.

I run a vx-6r with a yaesu ssm 17 or whatever speakermic because it's got a jack I can plug into my earpro or a cia ear piece. This way I can leave the radio plug alone and it maintains waterproofness. I would rather have a militaryish style ptt with lapel mic and a plug for earpiece or earpro but they all are military style tacticool shit that uses the wrong connectors which are also huge. Of course I could get the real deal military shit and spend 2 grand on a headset... But no. I'm going for effective not larping gear.
@notsure7874Ай бұрын
Also the batte are 80 bucks but it's got a 12v barrel so bring a bioenno and a charging cord for more battery than you'd ever need for way less. Not that extra radio specific batts arent good to have because they are!

@notsure7874 run the gear that works for you and your setup, not just what the tactical hype beats are trying to sell you!
@notsure7874Ай бұрын
@@wildcatcomms I actually would like something more like the tactical gear but it doesn't seem to really exist. Always compromises to make. You've got a whole lot of really good suggestions that have helped a lot.
