Amateur Radio HF GoBox by OE1TRI

This is a re-upload with as I had pixelate some sensitive EmCom frequency information displayed on the case. The video is a short introduction to my Amtateur Radio Go Box as requested by fellow ham KA4WAY. Amateur Radio operators use these setups to get on the air out in the field - may it be for fun or in emergency situations (such as communication blackouts).
Edit 2024: This box no longer exists. In the meantime I have built some new boxes ;-)

This is amazing. Is there any way, when you have the time to show how you setup the raspberi pi (components and better software to run it) and screen ? I would love to add this to my build for winlink. Better yet, you can get the Panasonic touch screens FZ-G1 quite cheap these days and run Win10/11 on them. its a bit bulkier, but will give you the processing power and ruggedness in one device. What is the specs of the battery and how long can you keep this kit running before charging ?

This case doesn't exist anymore and I stopped including Raspberries in my cases. There are 3 main reasons: Although it looks cool on Hamfests, the power cosumption is not worth it. Secondly, the screen is just too small to do anything productive other than showing off. Thirdly, my Windows laptop is always up-to-date and most ham software (in my case Vara and Winlink) runs so much better on a real PC. I know, Vara and Winlink can be run on a Raspi as well but it is simply not as convenient. Many others will disagree but this is my experience.

The cooling fan is sucking out the air or blowing in? I'm confused about the direction it should be on my go box.

Mine are sucking out as the heat from the radios is travelling upwards. The fans help to get rid of the heat faster.

It has a fan. However, this box doesn't exist anymore. In the meantime I built a new one 😊
