You smashed it Mary!!! It’s funny hearing you say that I was motivating you from the other side of the world because I too felt that I had to be kept accountable… it wouldn’t look very good if I slacked on training when you were going all out! So glad you found the week motivating and a big confidence boost, can’t wait to see what you do in the Bangkok Mara! 😆

@@ThisMessyHappy thanks, first run back yesterday and things are looking positive. Achilles injuries are always a difficult one to know when to return. At least I’ve got experience, keeping it moving with low intensity and regular heel raises seems to be the key

Good to see Mary adapt so quickly to double days and 6 training days in the week. In our experience double days and minimal rest days gave the biggest boost in fitness. As well as elites like Philly, many club runners train like that. We still like to work on those principles despite, like yourselves, both having busy teaching jobs. We think Mary will see a super fitness boost leading up to her marathon. Well done.

Well done Mary! Impressive to mirror Phily so closely. Also discovered Phily through Jog On Harry and been watching her ever since. I've been watching mess-hap videos for a couple of years and this is maybe my favourite.

Mary’s always such a happy bouncy person, it’s always hard to see the training effort almost suck the fun out of what you enjoy.. but to see the smile back after that finale early run 🙌🏼 My body just can’t handle massive training efforts, probably because I’m doing it wrong I must admit, I’ve been trying to do a lot of base low heart rate runs in recently trying to get back that back bone to the harder stuff as I have my first trail marathon, and mountain marathon in Snowdon this July.. and have just managed to do my first 50 min 10k at the vitality London 10k, and I have even more respect for the people who do it faster.. and do all that training.. Well done for surviving it 👍🏼😀

Great video Ben and Mary. I really like how you are connecting us watchers with more runners on KZbin. I just started watching Philly Bowden a few weeks ago and I love her videos. I also liked getting a glimpse of her overall training. There are some definite take away lessons from this block. On the sidelines right now as far as running goes. I did something to my make and running doesn't make it happy.

There has to be something in this double run day thing. So many top athletes of all ages use it to bag miles and not kill their legs. I did it a few weeks back for the first time, dreading it, but loved the second run and found it easier than i thought i would.

Hey Sophie. Thanks so much! Treadmill is really just because if you run after about 7am it’s hotter than the surface of the sun so the treadmill is a good option to allow a lie in. Or like yesterday when it rained (it rains hard here!) 😊

Great video and well done to Mary for completing the week. I would be interested in your comparison between Ben’s week of early mornings and Mary’s. It seems as though Mary was up at 5am for a number of mornings but was better able to complete her workouts. Was she getting to bed earlier to keep her usual sleep quantity, an effect due to a less physical job (though intense in different ways), the motivation of Philly, or something else? Thanks for the videos
