I will now probably write a huge textwall about why this song and music video fits so perfectly to nier automata, and i dont even know why i'm doing this... The shots that they've made, along with this song - The dolls that were torn apart and crushed violently and shown with every detail of that. Does this give you a weird feeling? Maybe makes you sad? Disgusted? Axious? But why are you thinking this? Aren't these just.. plaint 'Dolls' ? Mass produced, with no emotion whatsoever? Why are you feeling these sort of feelings from something that doesn't give you anything back? We Humans like to project feelings into things that give us a wholesome and good feeling. Especially in Emotional Situations. We crave for something, for not being alone. Things such as Teddybears, or simply situations in life when two pieces of leaf along with a curved branch lay on the ground and we think of it as a laughing face. And exactly this was Yoko Taro trying to project us with the robots. Entities that were not human at all, dont have real feelings - but somehow they have..? I think everyone who had some sort of uncomfortable feeling whilst fighting against these guys could probably project something to these dolls in this music video. Well it's 5 a.m and i was just rambling for no reason, i really should go to sleep.. But it's interesting to see it this way i think.

I’m 3 years from the future, playing this game for the first time. The dlc was exhausting and I only got to part C in the main game just because I keep having to take breaks. I appreciate your break down because that’s exactly what I was feeling yet I also thought I should be embarrassed for feeling bad for inanimate objects. I guess that’s the point of it. I haven’t finished the game, but at some point I was convinced that the machines were actually humans that were turned into them to keep up with production cause that’s the story of one of the swords. That’s why they keep doing “human” things and why were supposed to sympathize with them more. I kept being pissed at 2B and 9S for being such assholes lol

I'm not quite fond of 2B or 9S as characters, but i think that this was the point of them. Since you're currently playing it, i won't spoil anything, but i think later it might get explained a bit more. Yoko Taro always wants to give his characters a "logic reaction" to why they kill. Seeing this now, makes sense why he used "Doll-like" Robots, since machines don't have feelings..right? :) I hope you enjoy your playthrough of Automata!

Of course!. Yoko Taro (the main director of the game this video is based off) said it in his twitter. Basically the 200 dolls where made specifically for this video by Ryochi Yoshida (yes, a japanese legend inside the doll making industry) all of them handmade, in fact most of the budget went into the making the dolls, Yoko Taro said that he was impressed about who well this turned out to be despite the low budget. In my personal opinion what hurted me the most was the last one, a 2B doll made by Ryouchi Yoshida, that shit is invaluable as a collector/fan of this franchise and is probably the only one that have existed...

Woof. That was kickass. I want a 2B doll like you see at the end. ...and Yoko Taro said in the recent interview: “Don’t expect too much from this game if I were you.” - now I'm expecting too much. This game's gonna be awesome! The eyes. In the annoucement trailer 2B has no cover on her eyes, I wonder if this is a design change or has something to do with the story. In the release date trailer there's a robot with green eyes, the robots in the demo have red eyes. In the music video here the robot almost turned green when his emotions almost kicked in. 2B said in the demo that "emotions are prohibited". So emotions and eye color somehow correlates and might have deeper meaning in the game. By the way, the initial celestial letters you could see in the Nier 2 announcement trailer were in Japanese, which translates to NINGYOU HITO KIKAI, which means DOLL HUMAN MACHINE. We know the human part, the machines are the baddies and the dolls must be the YorHa robots. I'm already in love with this game.

Nier Automata, is the first game that I 100% since the PS2 times. Such an amazing Experience, Poor 9S, and poor Emil (he suffered so much through both games). This game actually made me shead a tear a couple of times, like when you find 2B's flight unit, the Ending E with the pods saying thank you for playing and about taking the future, and the credits when you accept help from others and the song changes from the voice of one to the voice of many in different languages. Absolutely incredible, Thank you Yoko Taro. Of all characters in all video games, I never felt so sad for anyone but 9S and Emil from this and Miller from MGS.

They are able to evoke feelings in us, it seemed that in front of you was an ordinary toy that can be easily replaced at any time, that in principle costs nothing, but for some reason you tremble so much for it, you are afraid of losing it. These are not just plastic dolls, they are something more. Something that can make us cry. These are not just plastic dolls, they are something alive. This is not some kind of “code error”, this is a real manifestation of feelings, to look at how 2B cries, how deeply sad 9S is, it is clearly visible and clear that these are not just soulless creatures. The Commander’s same ban on “not showing your feelings” makes you think. Truly the most amazing game I have ever played. This game perfectly makes it clear that plastic dolls are not just dolls, but a whole soul, this game is... THE BEST.
