Amazing review and I am totally gobsmacked by the battery life of 2 weeks with your usage which was quite engaging. This could last me a month with my kinda usage. My fitbit lasts me a week with a monochrome tiny screen and I been waiting for a long time for colored screen smartwatches to catch up hence the interest in this watch. I am a GTR owner do NOT buy this watch, the clock can do everything as described but GPS does not work, takes minutes until a signal is found, on a bike-tour of 13km the GPS signal is missing several km - the Amazfit Pace is older but essential better - GTR has long battery and a great screen but his doesn't matter if you can not use the clock as a sports watch - do not repeat the same mistake as I did

It indeed does, but this mode burns battery as hell. Like 1% in an hour, give or take. Before they optimize this - it's not really useful.

Thanks @Linus for the review. It was pretty good at all. I´m using GTR for a couple of weeks and my only concern until now is with the GPS. It took so long time to connect the GPS and sometimes not connect. You hear some problem about it? or this issue could be related with my region. Thanks again a all the best to you.

Well I have this watch for a month. For now it has very inaccurate GPS, bad activities tracking, and don't have possibility to setup customs interval training, which is very bad for me as a runner (pace and stratos hve this possibility). Also when you deactivate watch from amazfit app, it resets all stats you had that day. Maybe developers will resolve all of these cons in future. Watch has beautiful design, solid build and the best battery life I have ever seen in smart watch/tracker world. My GTR also has always on display. Try to go in settings->always on display ( they added it since last update). I won't say it's the best watch, because of issues that it has right now, but it has potential to be one of the best.

Some phones have dual areas so it might be possible that you could set one area for day to day on watch one and sports for day two. Possibly using the same account which could collect data for both watches.

You didn't discuss the important parts: 1. Does it allow 3rd party apps? (Facebook, instagram, etc) 2. Does it allow phone calls? 3. Does it let us answer calls from the watch? Why leave out the most important parts?

1. It does not support third party apps. 2. You can decline and mute calls when in Bluetooth range, but you cannot answer calls.

Hi, Nice review of the GTR. Could you answer a few questions please. Would an iPhone get all the same features as an Android phone? When 3 faces are installed on the watch, do they remain on the watch when another 3 are installed? Is the alarm any good? Most of the watches I have had were pretty poor, in fact next to useless, and over the years I have had several G Shock, Citizen. and Seiko. I bough a very cheap watch in Turkey which really did have a high volume. Why can't the big boys do the same? Many thanks

One feature separating different budget watches like this is messaging. Can you do preset replies, delete individual messages and so on? In short, I would love to see a 5 minute or so video on messaging and phone call functionality (not talking but if you are able to decline/take calls without picking up you phone and such)

For phone calls, use what is called bluetooth headsets. As regards replying to messages, you cannot do it on the gtr...

I thought my wording suggested that I'm not a complete novis in tech. I do know what Bluetooth is and how it works😊. It doesn't have anything to do with the watch though, since it has no SIM it can't be used for phone services by itself. BT headsets needs a phone. Yes it has a fantastic battery, but it doesn't come for free. To achieve that, to make it short, they realized a semplified watch if compared to the Stratos2. I own both and the main reason I prefer the GTR is the design (it's really neat) and the battery as said before. But there are also letdowns, as the absence of a translucent screen ("always on") and the possibility to access the file system, wich means no custom watchfaces, no add-on apps and so on.

GPS really sucks, can confirm that. Basically no GPS fix when watch on hand... So if you want watch for sport, not recommended.

I confirm GPS is really bad. Slow locking to satellites, frequent loss of signal where any other device has it, very inacurrate positioning. In my opinion GPS is not just bad, its a failure and serious design flaw. If it was any producer from the western world you could simply return it as flawed and falsly advertised. GPS is on the level of children watches and no mora than that.

Hi, got a question related to this watch. I bought it and there is one thing I cannot understand. In the status menu we have a diagram shoving the steps done during the present week. In my case it does not show it for all the past days even though I reached the goal every single day. I only see it for the present day. What is going on? Huawei watch GT2 (or Honor Magic Watch 2, both are basically same). I bought this one yesterday, and I'm already regretting it, after using it, and reading reviews. The sensors in this watch are inaccurate, sometimes it counts steps while in a car. The always-on display has only two watch face options, and more cannot be added. This watch doesn't have a speaker or mic, so you can't take calls on it. Alarms have vibration only, which is not enough to wake a deep-sleeper like me. Huawei GT2/Honor MagicWatch 2 may be more expensive, but it's worth saving up money and buying that one instead of this.

It's more like an upgrade amazfitbip really. There are no real replying options to notifications like you can do with actual android wear. It's more of a notifications and health tracker watch really.

No always on display kills it for me. Seriously what are they thinking, they have a super battery, put an always on function! Of course battery will be a lot less durable, but give us the choice to use it or not when we want.

Hey! My wrist is actually really small like girl's. However, the 47mm looks surprisingly good on my wrist and it's comfortable to wear. I wouldn't say this about all watches, e.g. Galaxy Watch 46mm is simply too big for me, so I would take a 42mm model (see my Galaxy Watch review).
