Fantastic review!! I think you forgot to show the AI thing of the watch and a look inside Zepp and the metrics that the application shows with very nice health graphics. About the AI It can be used for telling to answer a friend's WhatsApp (It translates the voice to text and it's incredible accurate. No need to type), to tell you a joke, the weather of a location or whatever you can think. Or even to plan trainnings in Zepp analyzing your data. It is pretty amazing.

Thankyou my friend! Yeah, I think I need another week or so with the watch to fully understand the Zepp app and the AI capabilities but so far I’m well impressed with what I’ve seen! It’s much more capable than Garmin’s assistant which doesn’t understand 98% of the things you say. I can’t wait to try that WhatsApp feature! Wow.. and the planning your training is really cool too!! Watch this space 🔥

Its worth noting that Garmin maps are much more fluid if you change the detail to low and remove contours, they are then more in line with the definition depicted by the Trex. Coros and Amazfit use overlay imaging rather than true mapping with POI's and on the fly routability hence why Garmin is slower at rendering.
@ActiveIdeas2 күн бұрын
True! Lots more features on the Garmin platform. The most notable being the “navigate to” feature where you can select a point on the map and then head towards that destination. Also on the T-Rex you can’t create routes even on the app… but on garmin you can actually create GPX files which is MASSIVE for planning trips .. full comparison video coming soon diving into the nuances x
@killertofu2 күн бұрын
2 questions, 1) would you recommend the trex 2 or 3 if the only thing i want is to measure heart rate, get step count during the day (casual hiking but not really so its negligible in this area) and good battery life ? 2) i only knew of the Apple Watch and galaxy watch before i found out about this device. I’ve looked at the garmin but the trex seems like best bang for buck. Now if you had to compare the apple device vs getting a trex, what would be you opinion on that? Disregarding the obvious benefits of being abler to use smartphone apps on the watch of an apple/galaxy watch.
@ActiveIdeas2 күн бұрын
Some great questions there mate! I mean yeah.. if you’re only looking to do HR and step count I’d say maybe don’t get a T-Rex at all? Maybe just get the Helio Ring by Amazfit which will do both of these tasks better than the watch (it’s easier to wear 24-7). Corr T-Rex vs Apple Watch… a lots going to be very similar. Obviously the integration on Apple Watch with your iPhone will be a lot better. But I am surprised at how well Amazfit’s T-Rex 3 works with my iPhone 15… all the A.I features work better than Apple intelligence haha. Also the Zepp phone application has loads of customisation on iPhone where you can download loads of games, watchfaces, utility apps and more for your Amazfit watch. So tbh.. other than the Apple Watch having LTE I think most casual users will notice ZERO differences and might even find there to be more things to play with on the T-Rex! 🦖 Anyways, hope I helped with your decision and didn’t confused further haha

Great review! Btw, can the T-rex 3 track climbing activities - like proper sport climbing? I know a lot of pro climbers promote Coros but I was wondering if other watches like the T-rex 3 or the Race S can manage it as well?
@ActiveIdeasКүн бұрын
I’ve just checked and surprisingly. YES? it has indoor climbing with automatic set detection, and you can change your climbing difficulty for each pitch. It also has different climbing formats such as V6 or you can use 6A+ format. It also has outdoor climbing! Not sure how accurate it would be for sport climbing, if you’re a world champion the whole automatic set thing might be abit slow I’m not sure BUT this is definitely fantastic for training and anyone else who isn’t a world champion whipping out 8 second ascents haha. Gets the thumbs up from me (mostly do bouldering myself). Hope this helps 🔥🔥

I’ve always used Suunto & Coros for climbing. Both are good but Coros takes the edge, I like the way it all works on the activity profile. In order from best to worst it probably goes Coros, Suunto, Amazfit. All are great though. In terms of comfort (whilst on the wrist and not affecting climbing) it has to be Suunto Vertical.. especially when paired with a nylon strap.

@@alejandroblancogarcia3087 greetings mate! Cor, that’s such a tough question.. I’m definitely more accustomed to Suunto. @@jzcrossan thanks for the love bro! Appreciate it 👊🏽 Yeah, so far I’ve been really impressed with it and for the fells I can see this being a great option for the price. I will say the compass still doesn’t match that of the Suunto… but no company does, I find this useful for when in the fells or mountains, apart from that, the navigation, turn by turn and ease of adding a GPX has all been a very pleasurable experience! For sleep tracking both the Amazfit and Suunto are fantastic.. I suffer with insomnia and both these brands have crushed Garmin when it comes to getting accurate sleep duration data as well as perfectly detecting maps, the T-Rex might even have the edge here! But then I’ve heard some nightmares about heart rate with Amazfit.. I haven’t seen anything shocking yet but I can tell you from what I’ve seen so far Suunto Race S (and Vertical with older HR) have superior HR tracking. The Race S is the better value but you will push its battery life limitations if you’re out on adventures longer than 8 hours (with al the bells and whistles turned on). With the vertical I ran 100 mile Arc of Attrition race by UTMB and still finished with 34% without changing it for the whole weekend haha 🔥 All the best mate!

I would really like it you put in a gpx file to follow that is longer than about 30k and let us know how the turn by turn directions go to poop. It seems as if it can only handle a certain amount of turns and when there are too many it just doesn't bother telling you when to turn. Seems about 499 course points
@ActiveIdeas8 күн бұрын
If this is true this is much better than Garmin James.. pretty sure the “maximum turn by turn points on Garmin is 50 or with direct navigation (not as accurate) it goes up to 250 points.. So I haven’t tested the maximum on Amazfit yet but if you’re correct that’s twice as good as Garmin at 499👍🏽
