I tested my gf amazfit gtr mini (99€ watch ) in couple runs and days vs garmin epix pro + hrm pro + and I was shocked . Distance (all satelites garmin ) and amazfit just gps , difference was max 30meters in half marathon , average HR max 1beat , cadence max 1 step. Estimated Vo2 max the same , deep sleep and REM sleep almost the same . So question is , are we really pay for quallity and for something special for garmin ? Or just brand ?

I had my first run with the watch today. It suffers of pretty terrible cadence lock. After you run with great effort, the heart rate remains high for a long period, even though you're running slow. I had 3 sessions with great intensity, and every time after i finished them, the heart rate remained as I was running at higher pace, even though I was at an relaxed peace on the descent.

So, o did another run today, a longer one 35 k. And i'm happy to report i was blown away about the heart rate accuracy this time. Spot on. 4 things i did, that might have influenced the results: 1. I installed an update the night before the run (but it didn't mention any heart rate improvements in the log). 2. I wore it on the other hand, the right one 3. I didn't close the strap as tight as the previous time. It wasn't loose at all means. I know, it's counterintuitive, but it's what i did. 4. I didn't hit 189 HR as the last time when i noticed the cadence lock as being severe (i wasn't the only time it happened while i took that run, but lasted the longest). This 174 HR was the upper limit. I don't know which one of them worked this time, but the heart rate monitoring was perfect. I will keep and sell the other watches, not the other way around. :)

Appreciate the video. I am really wanting the Fenix 8(can't decide MIP or AMOLED), but this seems pretty impress for basically 1/5th of the price. Your video on the Fenix pretty much had me locked in, now I am thinking save the $$$ and have a pretty great looking watch.

Did you forgot to mention the feature that it can used complemented with the Helios ring from same company and same zepp app? This seems a big game changer that Garmin has not done yet. Many people were expecting F8 and a Ring. These guys do it.

HEY! THANK FOR THE VIDEO! When training at the gym, does the watch know how to count repetitions in each set like the Garmin? And is the step counting good or I might move my hand and the watch will think I'm walking?
@the-portuguese-guyАй бұрын
the catch is the price, this watch is made for people buy new models every Year, its no made for people think on the future. Before buying a smartwatch is better thinking what type of support the brand give ? 1 year of updates or 2 or more. If i need replace the battery after expire warranty...have batteries on the market ? the brand change the battery ? have private services center can fix the smartwatch ? this is the catch, good video and good approaching.
@DaveDoesFitnessАй бұрын
Those are some great points. I know that they offer a 1 year warranty, same as Garmin, but I don't know about long-term support. I think if the watch can last at least 3 years and then be replaced it would have overall lower cost than a Garmin, but on the other hand - Garmin can have resale value and also may provide a higher end experience during ownership. Thanks for watching! 🏃💪
@ziem0witt26 күн бұрын
Their older model "Balance", got most of the new features from the Trex 3 after a year of release, so there is no need to worry about support. Garmin also does not offer battery replacement (they replaces the entire watch), and if it no longer produces a given model, it provides a newer model.

6 years ago I had an Amazfit Stratos. Amazfit is on the market quite long. By then the sports functions were okay but not accurate. Now it's still focus on quantity of functions, not on quality. If it had dive functions I would still have considered, but went for fenix8. Early reviewers explained the better battery life for a large part on an intermitted heart rate measuring. Garmin was sleeping not providing that option.
@DaveDoesFitnessАй бұрын
Yes I'm quite new to the brand and after some research see that they were notoriously bad with sensor accuracy until recently, but now seem to be above average. Totally agree with the intermittent heart rate seeming to be a great feature for extending battery life Thanks for watching! 💪🏃
@sylvestersam272429 күн бұрын
Yes this! The intermittent hr reading prolong battery significantly on Coros also, whereas on Garmin it's realtime hence shorter battery life. BUT on workout modes with full GPS on, Garmin is comparable with Coros. I had Coros Apex and now Garmin FR255, GPS battery life is comparable on 30hrs GPS only mode, but daily battery life is 10 to 14 days vs 20+ days on Coros.

Fenix 8 for 1.2k? Or let's say even wo6th some mega sales for 900 (speaking for 51mm) it's an overpriced and unfortunately lagging watch. I would change my mind if garmin will add/fix several things: - map performance is just pathetic! Have you tried to use the address search on the watch? Dunno how it works for the US, but in Germany it simply doesn't! I have to navigate via map to my target! Ain't this pathetic for 1.2k?? Building routes also takes ages for a bike route (ok, I am using it in a large city, but that's not my problem) - add ambient pressure into the watch. Why on earth are they using that monster of barometer and stored in maps height/pressure model values. I have to login into my weather station every time i wanna check the pressure. And then there is the implementation of their barometer in an airplane... Pathetic! - Ecg for the European market + blood pressure measurement worldwide - add more smart features (e.g. built in camera control, etc.) - adequate recognition of exercises, better reps and sets recognition in their gym training mode. Also I would like to make my own training programs, it's not hard, right? And please don't tell me about garmins mega outdoor performance. Just go and do some free swims and look onto the map afterwards ;) It's all great on paper, but once you dig in, everything on this watch is full of poorly implemented things. If I didn't care about the looks and the flashlight, I would go 10 times with TRex. For now I am not happy with F8, and would gladly consider good loking alternatives!
