AMAZING 1994 Goldstar LVP Traction Lift - ex Hotel ***** Chedi, Bandung, IDN

I believe that this is the only lift original to the hotel. The service lift in the shaft behind has been modernised by Sigma (OEK).
The hotel opened as The Chedi and was managed by Adrian Zecha's world renowned GHM Group - the same company that manages Aman resorts worldwide.
Sometime around the 2010s, The Djarum Group bought and assumed management of the hotel.
Djarum renamed the hotel to The Malya Hotel before altering and renaming the property to its current state as The Padma Bandung.
When Djarum reopened the property as The Padma, they added an additional wing to the hotel which meant that the property saw the addition of what was originally two new lifts (One Service and one passenger).
The original parts of the hotel was designed by Kerry Hill - including the interior of this very lift. It is without doubt, one of the most elaborately designed lift I have ever stepped foot in. This lift completely contradicts and challenges my belief that Goldstars are just cheaper Hitachis installed into buildings that couldnt afford a Hitachi lift.

I once stayed in this hotel with my family back in the early 2000s and that was probably my first time riding a GoldStar. Sadly it broke on the day we were leaving the hotel. Glad it hasn't changed much apart from those horrid generic touchless buttons. About your statement that GoldStar is merely a cheaper version of Hitachi, I think the same thing can be said for Dong Yang which is basically a cheaper Toshiba and both brand shared the same components and characteristics due to their direct technical partnership.

I like to think that this lift carries on the wibawa of the Chedi Era. Very fancy indeed. Id like to point out that by the 1990s, goldstar was not the cheapest mechanically related hitachi lift out there. That title would have to go to the earliest Guangri and Yungtay models. Goldstar is mechanically related to Hitachi but they still have its own traits and styling imo.

@@sumbu_y_ But the Mitsubishi licensed GoldStar/LG products still carry some traits from Mitsubishi due to a technical partnership with the latter, where production took place at the Juan factory. Sadly we never get to see them in Indonesia as Mitsubishi licensed GoldStar/LG products were produced only for the Korean market.
