+Justin Angers At ski speed it wouldn't really. Yes those two turbines output quite a bit of heat up close but at speed the cold morning air quickly mixes with the heat. You could water ski behind it for sure but if your earplugs fell out you'd have some hearing damage.

Cool boat. I've considered building a turbine powered lake boat. Something around a 25' tunnel with a small turbine, around 600-800 shaft hp. The nice thing about turbine engines is their efficiency goes up at higher power settings, and they'll run virtually forever, at full power, between rebuilds. Initial cost is high though, as well as the drive system cost.

@jmr1068204 - The water is a Venturi cooling system for the exhaust gasses. Raw water is pumped in through little jets and as you can see in the video... you can put your hands in the exhaust with the engine running. It also looks very cool with the water vapor blasting out of them in the running shots.

Boat engines are cooled from the raw sea water, it's sucked up, cools the engine, then is dumped into the exhaust to help cool it as well.

These guys work hard, 24/7/365 for their rewards and give generously... TURBINE MARINE, INC. specializes in the manufacture of products powered by 1450hp to 1840hp aviation gas turbine engines. Avgas is distinguished from mogas motor gasoline, which is the everyday gasoline used in cars. Unlike mogas, avgas contains tetraethyl lead, a toxic substance used to enhance combustion stability. but hey its still technically gas

Turbine engines are significantly more efficient and powerful than reciprocating engines. The problem for most folks is that they cost 10 times more. You are hearing incredible power but since there are not pistons it doesn't have that growl, which I happen to love. Just curious if it uses a planetary gear system to reduce the rpms to the props? This boat is an amazing example of art combined with engineering:)

The water coming out is for cooling. Most boats pull in water that they are in to cool off the motor, exhaust.

Could hear the screws surging as they left the water. Throttle control must be hard with gas turbines to prevent damage to the gearbox and or over-revving. You have to be very fast on the throttle to stop shaft surge and bog down.

actually, where gas turbines are incredibly inefficient is when they are at idle.. they are almost using as much fuel then, as they are when under regular (not wide open) throttle..

@bolutempejalanan Probably a gyro stabilized camera under a helo or plane. There's video of an offshore race somewhere on YT that was filmed with a gyro-cam under a plane fuselage. It is amazing how stable it is.
