I put out a trophy rock this year but no deer are going to it, why is this ?
@GrowingDeerTV
@GrowingDeerTV 8 жыл бұрын
We haven't experienced a learning curve of deer using Trophy Rocks. They generally seek them out quickly. In your area you may have natural mineral deposits on portions of your property or nearby that are attracting and providing deer with the minerals they need. -Matt

This all depends on what your soil test recommends! We pull soil tests prior to planting season each spring. You can learn more about soil test here, www.growingdeer.tv/archive/#/deer-management-see-more-deer-grow-bigger-deer --Matt

Would you recommend putting the deer mineral 465 on a stump or just in a pile near where the deer normally travel?
@GrowingDeerTV
@GrowingDeerTV 8 жыл бұрын
Chad- Many folks enjoy digging holes and piling on stumps, but this makes deer work for the minerals. If you simply pile it up on the ground it is easily accessible and then deer are not digging or consuming dirt. -Matt

I didn't age it but around six years, small worn down antlers, big chest, very thick neck, the rut had put a number on him his antlers looked like a velvet buck's they were so worn.

We recommend you broadcast wheat or oats into your clover plot to give it some extra punch for the fall. Doing this during a rain storm or just before will give you the best results. -Matt

We have a deer on our farm we nicknamed ghost we have never seen him on trail camera but we've seen him twice during the rut he was seen a lot with a buck I harvested last year I would estimate ghost to be 5 years old and my buck to be 3 and a half we don't have as high of standards for the deer we shoot because of how highly pressured an area as our farm is.Also I was wandering if you recommend a mineral block or a mineral bag to put in front of a trail camera to see who is in the neighborhood ,thank you and may God bless you and your family
@GrowingDeerTV
@GrowingDeerTV 8 жыл бұрын
Yes, we put cameras on many of our mineral sites during the summer to document the bucks in the neighborhood. The cameras not on Trophy Rocks are on time lapse on food plots monitoring deer activity. -Matt

Hey Grant. my name is Liam. I am from PA. And I am starting to process my own meat this year. I am planning to make a practice batch and my venison batch of sausage this fall. I have found many recipes but I was wondering what recipe you guys like to use and what percentage of fat you like to use in your meat.
@GrowingDeerTV
@GrowingDeerTV 8 жыл бұрын
Liam- Sounds tasty! We have tried many diffferent types of seasoning, our favorite was the pepperoni snack sticks. Our sausage was 20% fat. This is typically the recommended amount for making venison sausage. -Matt

At what point do you remove the fence to let the deer browse those big beans?
@GrowingDeerTV
@GrowingDeerTV 8 жыл бұрын
Great question! You can open the fence during early season when leaves are still green and offering great forage then close it back up for late season. Or you may simply wait til late season when pods are fully developed and open the gate when a cold front is forecasted. This is a great recipe. Deer are typically more hungry during the colder months so this food source is more of a limiting factor. -Matt
