On todays episode we have something special. A HK Holden Bathurst Edition Monaro Coupe GTS. Geoff picked this car up as a project in pieces. It had been sitting in a shed for the last 16 years and wasn't going to get done so the previous owner moved it on to. Geoff never thought he would be able to afford his dream car until he met a bloke on a building site that said his dad had a 327 Bathurst Monaro sitting in pieces in his shed and was looking to sell it, so I guess the rest is history.
First off he sent it in to have the body work done. Through that process he met the painters grand parents Tony and June. Tony and June have been building cars for a very long time and although in there 70's they were enlisted to reassemble the car ones their grand son was finished the panel and paint. And what a job they did. their attention to detail has made this car present immaculately. It was great to chat with them about their history with cars. Also their son Graham had his part to play to. He has an amazing mancave loaded with Holden memorabilia witch we will have a tour of in another video. But Graham has an extensive library of service manuals and parts books. Therefore if Tony needed to know what part where or how something was assembled he would ask Graham and he would hit the books. Witch is a real passion of Graham's. So all together 3 generations of this family lovingly restored this amazing car for Geoff.
The car was built back to factory specs and is as it left the factory. When Geoff bought the car it had a lot of parts already but as always there was stuff that needed to be acquired. They got a lot of old new stock items and it all helps make this car amazing. And original that could be restored were.
It's running the original 327 which has been rebuilt and the bay has also been done to factory specs. It has the big fuel tank in the boot witch has also been meticulously restored better than the factory specs.
The trim is immaculate. The seats and door trims came from Winner products. The seat covers were fitted by a local trimmer and Tony and June fitted it all up. It has the tacho in the console and the original steering wheel and radio.
All and all this car is a masterpiece with a lot of work and love went into. The people involved with this build have knocked it out of the park. And it was an absolute pleasure to meet and chat with Geoff Tony June and Graham. It has already pick up trophies for the best original restoration vehicle at several events.
Now we still have Graeme's Mancave tour to go with all the Holden collectables from multiple years with rare books that were published before the first Holden rolled off the production line. So Stay tuned for week week for this one. But for now, Too Be Continued....

9:48 The wheel covers (or caps back in the day) were called the "Sports Wheel Disk". It's so good to see a restoration with these in place, it's how they came out. I recently found a full set in the window of an antique shop with no price on them but the shop was closed at the time. The next time I was in town, the shop had closed down but I would have loved to buy them, they are pretty rare now. I see the original blank for the choke in six cylinder versions, the V8's has automatic choke. I was only young but I remember the red wall tires also, I love these so much. I never thought I would see a perfect restoration but now I have, thank you.
