Acrylic pouring Medium: Fluid art
My home made pouring medium used for my usual work is a pre mix of 70% mont Marte clear craft glue and 30% warm water, if in the USA Elmer’s “glue all” works well.
I add my pouring medium to my paint slowly until I achieve the consistency of pouring cream, approximately 50/50 more pm if needed, not all paint brands go well with this pouring medium, so just test out.
paint brands mostly used are the Global impasto paints, Amsterdam paints, pebeo paints,also Mont marte studio acrylics, or pouring paints.
I Certainly explore different brands and mediums, it’s all part of the learning process.
Also iv started to add a tablespoon of floetrol to each paint cup and stir instead of silicone for cells.
Extra special cell and lace and bloom like creation is found with Amsterdam paints add Aussie floetrol until correct consistency required, then used in pour or used to swipe details, “Aussie slides” are easily created this method.
I’m not using silicone very often at all (2021)
If I add silicone this is what I do.
When iv mixed my paints I add 2-4 drops maximum of Helmar silicone, also Australian made, I stir in well.
I always like to mix up my paints and add silicone the day before I’m going to paint, and cover with a damp cloth, as I have found I have much better results.

Very beautiful Gilly 😍 Absolutely stunning with the balloon kisses. I had a thought while you were making it, when you only had swiped one side of the painting. Wouldn’t have been kind of cool just to swipe only one side and leave the giraffe spots as they were on the other side, and then do balloon kisses on the swiped side? Do you understand what I mean? Can I put in a request that you do another one and then do like I just explained? I would love to see how that would turn out ♥️

I am so glad I found this video. Your test piece is gorgeous, and perfect for what I was trying to come up with. I wanted to work up a painting for my boyfriend's home, so I asked him his favorite colors. He answers made me go "oh, how do I put those into a nice painting"?...you just did it! Tan, Brown, Olive Green, aqua green, ocean blue. LOL, can you tell he was in the military and works on the water 😂 I am gonna try what you did in this video, may make two to accompany each other, but so I don't have to use all the paint colors in just one painting. Hang in there, it will happen! Can I suggest Boom Gel Paints, they are gorgeous, pre-mixed paints. They also sell “Boom Booster” which produces lovely cells without the complications of silicone oil. There are a couple distributors here in the US. You might even just buy the Booster, it works well with regular acrylic paints.

@@wtglb -thanks for the encouragement! I found the local Boom distributor in my area and plan on ordering them. The colors Gilly uses come out amazing. I use Arteza or Liquitex basic paints. I’ve tried Olga Sorby’s recipes, Kathleen Miller’s, AB Creation, and Gilly’s but can’t get the cells! I’ve watched over 200 videos (Pinterest and KZbin) and am trying to teach myself about paints, pour techniques and color theory. Very new to the world of paints (I’m a clay and fabric girl). Loving the paints tho!!

@@gillykubeart I’m a bit star struck to get a message from you Gilly. Thank you for your reply! I use Arteza and/or Liquitex Basics. My pouring medium is US Floetrol and white MonteMart paint (small H2O if needed). I’ve tried PVA glue/water, house paint and JoSounjer (?) mixture. And even just bought the Liquitex PM. I do “run tests” on paper for consistency of each paint. I guess I need more practice!! You definitely give the inspiration 💜

So beautiful. Unfortunately the paint may not peal from plastic, only silicone. You can put on photo paper and cut when dry. Hopefully it will peal off. Another master piece, Gilly!!
