Try using stereo headphones, you will see a huge difference in sound quality. The reason is the mixing of Lovebites songs, the sound of each guitarist is fed into separate channels and can be heard separately in the headphones' speakers.

I get what you're saying about the use of double kick. But when I focused on Haruna I started to appreciate what she does accenting with her cymbals and counter rhythms alongside the double kick.

Thanks so much for reacting to amazing Lovebites. If you want more nice piano, I recommend “Epilogue”, “Empty daydream” (both live, 2019), “Edge of the world” (live, 2020). If you want heavy stuff, then “Hammer of wrath”, “Judgment Day” (both live, 2023), “Break the wall” (live, 2020), “Set the world on fire” (live, 2021)

About Paganini, there is a new Miyako's intro: La campanella (in Liszt piano version) and the "Lost in the garden". In this song there is another Chopin etude: "Ocean" in background, always recorded by Miyako. The Chopin intro: Revolutionary etude, then was resumed by Miyako in the her guitar solo. Thank You.

There was once a time when Miyako was not sure whether she would choose to be a classical pianist or a metal guitarist. One day she realized that classical music and heavy metal have something in common, and she realized that she did not have to choose between the two.

Rapid and durable double bass drumming is just a part of Haruna. IMO, her real exceptional talent is her sense of drum fills with exceptionally effectual use of her tools. E.g. She often starts with heavy sound of floor tom, then changes to tom tom and snare behind guitar solo as it develops, and her sense to use cymbals and bells. She knows what, how and when to use them perfectly. Her style is exceptional and outstanding. She doesn't do much drum solo but she exactly knows what she must do for the total sound of the band. She makes the perfect rhythm section. She really is a virtuosa. Talking about Paganini, Miyako got something of Paganini. She covered Yngwie Mulmsteen's Far Beyond The Sun as a piano etude, and Yngwie composed that piece with the inspiration of Paganini's violin concerto. Have you ever seen Senri Kawaguchi? She is a better drummer all round! Haruna is a magnificent drummer, but in 40+ years of going to metal concerts I have seen the best. Haruna, on the other hand, has a lot to learn, including drum soloing. She could learn from Senri, who is a master of doing solos. Haruna is not the finished article yet, cute as she is 😍. She will get there. Btw I saw her on the UK tour ( twice), and Senri live at an open-air concert in France! I like your enthusiasm but don't get carried away 😉😎🤟

@@noelle3551 Since when does a drum solo make the difference? Did you ever stop to think that Lovebites doesn't write drum solos into their compositions, and the one on KAHG for Haruna was probably put in there just for a taste for what some "cry for? So you use drum solos as the rating system? Well then I'd say Buddy Rich, but that's my opinion. I have my personal taste in drummers, and I don't tell anyone else they are better than this drummer or that drummer - they are just my favorites: Haruna, Martin Lopez (Soen, ex-Opeth), Tomas Haake (Meshuggah), Dave Lombardo (Slayer, Grip Inc). So anyone can throw other names out there like Neil Peart or John Bonham etc, but won't change my mind. And I've been listening to metal for over 50 years, and that doesn't make me a judge of the "best".

Thanks for this reaction and welcome to Lovebites' world! There are a lot of good experiences waiting ahead, so keep doing it please! After the balads already suggested above, I'd add: "Thunder vengeance", "Set the world on fire", "Hammer of wrath" and "Shadowmaker". The live versions are always a better experience, except for "Shadowmaker" which, in my opinion, has the most amazing MV the band has already made. It's visually and soundly almost as good as a live experience. Further, you should also check "Rising" MV, also very good. Perhaps later, "Raise some hell" (it's a self introduction to the band, you'll see), "Break the wall", "Scream for me" and, of course, the new post-pandemic album, with Fami, their 21 year old new bassist. I loved the loundge experience you are providing, the sound is not so bad and it's a pretty good idea. Greetings from Brasil!

Chopin (pronounced Show-pan) was a Polish-born Romantic-era (1800’s) classical composer and piano virtuoso who lived most of his life in France. He is considered one of the great classical composers, specializing in highly technical works for piano. "Etude" is French for "study". Chopin's Etudes were written as "studies", or lessons, for his students. They ended up being popular things for professional pianists to play as part of their concerts, in part to show off their skills. This is one of the more famous ones and is considered one of the most difficult ones. Miyako, who composes a lot of Lovebites’ music, is a professional-level concert pianist, and was originally going to make classical music her career. When she was 18, she picked up a guitar, and is now (quite obviously) an elite-level guitarist. She particularly likes the Romantic Era classical composers like Debussy, Dvořák and Chopin, as well as her stated favorite, Russian romantic composer Rachmaninoff. She composed “Swan Song” using elements of the New World Symphony (Dvořák) and Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor), with a passage by Rachmaninoff as the outro. For this performance, she actually played the Etude as the intro, but it’s not normally included in their shows.

LB History : Lovebites has been around since 2016, and the women became more famous worldwide after performing at several major festivals, mainly in Europe, starting in 2018 - Wacken - Open Air in Germany 2018 - Bloodstock Open Air in England 2019 - Graspop Metal Meeting Festival in Belgium 2019 - Download Festival in Spain. In 2020, their career was abruptly interrupted by Corona. But they masterfully overcame the crisis, got married and had babies. In 2021 the founder Miho left the band for personal reasons and it went into a hiatus which lasted until the end of 2022. In the fall of 2022 they found a young fantastic bass player and in 2023 they released a new LP. The new LP reached the 5th place in the Japanese charts. The piano on stage is a Roland Digital Grand Piano GP609 - no analog strings involved... It provides a direct digital interface and is considerable smaller than a concert grand - it fits better on stage, there's no need for complicated mic setup and sound bleeding over/isolation issues, and it provides sound and mechanical properties very close to a real grand. And it looks nice ;) Regarding "real" pianos, Miyako prefers Yamaha, though.

Another very complimentary reaction to Lovebites, thank you! Couple thoughts. For me the judicial use of double-kick drums is a bit like the proper use of harsh vocals.....great when used in the right measure at the right time but easy to over use and not appropriate for all songs! If you are familiar with Helloween's song Eagle Fly Free, Lovebites did a great tribute to the song with a Live studio recording (I preferr it to the original). If you should choose to react/review that recording, it would be awesome if you did a double feature and followed it up with Miyako's Piano rendition of the same song! All the Lovebites ladies are awesome musicians....Miyako is a standout in the industry! When you get your sound system figured out you'll find that they have the guitars panned left and right as we see them, with the bass, drums, and vocals more centralized. Awesome band, enjoy the journey!🤘

I’ll double up on this and suggest a double reaction of Yngwie Malmsteen’s Far beyond the Sun, and Miyako’s cover of it. From her own words, she stated that she thought she could never play this on guitar, so she wanted to give it a shot on piano instead.

"Best" of anything is of course subjective. But if you were to make a list of the top 10 rock/metal/fusion drummers in the world today, you might end up with five of them being Japanese women. Even more than their astounding abundance of great guitarists, where Japan is really astonishing is the number of great drummers it is producing.

Thank you for reacting to one of the band's epic masterpieces. As you have just witnessed, this track is a testament to the band's superb talent and musical diversity - it's a neoclassical metal song where you'll hear the motifs from Romantic-era classical composers Chopin (intro/main riff/solo) and Dvořák (chorus) throughout the track. Miyako is a virtuoso on BOTH the guitar and piano/keyboards, and she also composed and arranged this song. BTW, Haruna's (drummer) star "cymbals" are just for aesthetic purposes and they're part of her trademark. She spins them at the beginning and/or the end of some songs. For another epic masterpiece and "less" double bass, I recommend "A Frozen Serenade" LIVE : kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5aboYSMqpKFhJo . Enjoy !

@@chordsandnotesnation This overview roughly divides the whole catalogue into categories. It was once a list, that I've entered manually, now it's a complete template with individual entries. It gives an idea what's there, and you'll find almost any suggestion in it. As all the songs are so great, it's easy to say: "Take any (randomly)!". But if you mention your preferences, I can also help... If you like the piano, it's worth mentioning, that Miyako (well pronounced!) released an EP with 6 of her piano covers half a year ago. She also played two shows in Tokyo in November 2023. It's at the end of the second part of the list. You can find 5 audios and 1 video, if you search for "Miyako topic" and find a playlist of "Etude Op.23". The video is "Eagle Fly Free" originally by Helloween. Miyako covered and rearranged this great song for piano, and it's a pleasure! "Eagle Fly Free" is special, because this also one of the 3 covers by the whole group. They covered it at the third anniversary of their debut album in a studio setting called "Awake Again" (2020). They played the whole album from 2017 live and added the cover of "Eagle Fly Free" by Haruna's (drummer) favorite band. My first idea to "less double kick" is to use the so called "E" songs, that are tame, but still LOVEBITES: "Edge Of The World", "Epilogue", and "Empty Daydream". "A Frozen Serenade" would work as well... For the Thrash Metal side, there are some examples as well. The newest release (of an old song) is "M.D.O.", but there's this lane with "Set The World On Fire", "Break The Wall", "Raise Some Hell", "Thunder Vengeance", "Hammer Of Wrath", etc. Well, in the end, it's always: "Take any, LOVEBITES won't disappoint you!" Enjoy your ride! (And don't forget to fasten your seat belt!)

Yes, there are many musicians who are more experienced and better than them, especially senior musicians, but Lovebites is the best power metal band of this period for some people, but for me they are the best in history. Of course, many legendary heavy/power metal bands also have good songs, but many of their songs are just meh. I didn't find a meh song as long as I listened to all of Lovebites' music. What differentiates and characterizes this band from other bands are the two guitarists Midori and Miyako. Generally, dual guitarists in metal bands have the same character, the same tone and almost the same way of playing, but Midori and Miyako are very different. Different ways of playing, different techniques, different tones, different instrument compositions and different characters. They combine their different abilities into something very interesting. If there's a better Heavy/Power Metal band out there than them let me know.
