Protomosaurus may not have been an actual species, but I guess it is interesting to see monitor lizard-like creatures that have evolved to become Mosasaurs.

Considering even the most arid-dwelling varanid lizard can swim well it is a little dramatic to show the Protomosasaurus to be so hesitant to flee into the ocean from predators. Varanids are already well adapted to feed on aquatic life by being able to use their forked tongue to smell prey underwater and a strong paddle-like tail.

So many inaccuracies. 1) Mosasaurus would only evolve live birth AFTER it became predominantly semi-aquatic. Not while it still is a lizard with legs. Until going out to shorelines would actually be somewhat impossible or difficult, they would just lay eggs in the sand like real sea turtles do. 2) It wouldn’t just be one individual who randomly decided to jump in the water once. This species would gradually move to shorelines and explore water, until their young would become more and more adapted to swimming via natural selection.

that's literally just a goanna/lace monitor without the markings. it makes no sense that this would be called "proto" mosasaurus when mosasaurs were the largest reptile on earth. it makes zero sense to crawl out of the water only to go back to it only to later come back to land.

Showcasing a fake animal that doesn't exist is basically lying to the audience, which is shameful, especially to the countless people that now learned something that is basically false, and they gain nothing from this. I can enjoy fantasy movies, but this just makes you realize how much false information a majority of people take in.

@@mhdfrb9971 there's nothing to back this up and there's zero evidence, speculative evolution is the similarities between separate but interconnected species spanning millions of years. Creating and speculating are two different things, But creating your own nonexistent animals and passing them as factual is the issue especially considering all the young children that watch this creating a false perception.
