Are vintage guitars better than modern guitars? I had the pleasure of attending the Elmira Vintage Guitar Show where I got play a bunch of Vintage Fender and Gibson Guitars for the first time. What do I think?

What a day! Join me as I spend a day with some spectacular guitars and some really nice people at a Vintage Guitar Show in Elmira, Ontario. Some of the highlights were a1952 Gibson Les Paul, 1955 Gibson Les Paul Custom Fretless Wonder, 1959 Gibson Les Paul Special, 1954 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top, 1961 Les Paul SG, 1960 Fender Stratocaster and a 1969 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe with Mini Humbuckers.

I guess the question from me would be (as I don't play the guitar), what would the difference be (other than the year) between a 60's les paul/strat and one of the two bought today? Like, is there particular tones or feelings that you can only get from an older guitar, and vice versa?

I sort of covered that in the video. So many factors go into creating tone. Change your speaker and the tone will radically change. I have plenty of new instruments and I love them. Some of these vintage guitars just had a quality to them. They felt great in my hands. But really, it's such a personal thing.
