I started doing this with my mead and graf and beers. I love the KegLand gadgets. Now it seems I prefer pressure filling from the big 5 gallon kegs to the 1 gallon kegs and from there, I can add more flavors or acids or hop extracts. So my one style of beer is now 5 styles.

Epic content! This also stops air being sucked in when the dip tube is removed so likely to cause less oxidation than version 1

Thanks for this video DrHans! I have had great success using this method to fill 2 liter bottles for sharing at parties. Also, I have adapted your design for use with glass bottles and it works so well it may just be worthy of a v3 to this series. Here's how its done for glass. Take your carb cap, attach a small piece of tubing to the barb , then slide a #2 drilled stopper over the tubing until it presses firmly against the underside of the carb cap. Clip off any of the tubing that sticks out through the bottom of the stopper and your ready. Hold the stopper to the bottle, purge, build the pressure in the bottle, swap the gas line for the beer line and then press the stopper up slowly with your thumb until it hits the flow rate you are looking for. Once you get near the top, let the liquid foam up a little by quickly releasing pressure, then cap on foam. This process is a little clunkier than a dedicated counter pressure filler, but it's cheap and it works great!

Brilliant! This is quite simply life-changing! I can't tell you how many different lengths of tubing I've ponced around cutting to size over the years (with many being left in the bottle until beer was consumed), and as of now I am free of all that crap! Many thanks Dr!

I've had the stainless version for years, this method works like a charm. I've never had a batch get oxidized doing the exact method you just did. Nice video, glad you got it out there and shared.

@@DrHansBrewery I've even used this method when first transferred to keg, when I want to bottle condition a few. Add priming sugar to the bottle, purge and proceed as usual.

Yes, I can confirm through having done this myself. I didn't want to use growlers or give/lend my limited carb-caps so capping on foam is pretty fool-proof! It's also how the breweries do it so it is well proven. I was diptube couter pressure filling for the longest time with glass (frankly it's still recommended) but moving to PET and squeezing to push foam works a treat!

@@DrHansBrewery Thank you! I usually fill with picnic tap and then cap on foam, but now I'll make sure to purge with carb-cap and still cap on foam. from my testing and my lazy local brewery capping on foam from a dispenser will only last 3 days at most before staling, purging and filling is the way to go!

Tilt the bottle for 30 or 45 degree during the filling and let the beer flow on bottle wall will help reduce foaming. And Shake the bottle once or twice before changing the cap will let the foam come up to prevent oxygen but we need to recap quickly. Cheers Doctor!!

@@DrHansBrewery too true. I'm always bottling a few in the Cooper's PET bottles as they're handy for giving to friends and family but this way I can just do the full batch into my keg & mini-kegs and then fill a bottle or two from the keg as needed (or drink it all myself if nobody wants a sample).

I will be using this method in the future, thanks:-) just wondered what would happen if you used half a carbonation tablet or a 1/4tsp to the pet bottle if it would over carbonate?

This is an amazing idea. I just tried it and it worked great! Quick question; when you squeeze the bottle and screw on the cap do you keep the bottle squeezed whilst you tighten it? The bottle is then permanently squeezed. Or do you just squeeze, place the lid on top, let go of the bottle and then tighten? Thanks Dr!
@DrHansBrewery3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Keep it squeezed until the cap is tight on.
@fredbepsis76353 жыл бұрын
Ah ok cool! Does the bottle eventually expand again or only when someone opens it? Does it matter? Just looks a bit odd with a slightly squeezed in bottle haha. Thanks again!

Could this method be used in a second fermentation using a carbonation tablet etc? Or would there be too much pressure developing after say a week of two?

Use the T part and a second carb cap and on that the spunding valve.

I'm a kegging guy. Never really dealt with the whole bottling thing until I tried a beer gun. The beer seems to go flat after 4 days or so, which is very irritating after I spent so much on the beer gun. So this might seem like a dumb question, but how long does it stay carbonated in the bottle using this method. I have 15 gallons of beer I want to give away since I want to brew some more, and really need to find a better bottling method. Funny I know, but it seems I like brewing more than drinking. 🤣🍻
