One other thing about Apollo 13....I read that when they screened it for the still surviving Apollo astronauts, a few of them asked where they got the archival footage from. The guys there on the day - the guys who knew everything there was to know about the Apollo rockets - believed that they were seeing real, existing footage of the launch. For the FX team, it doesn't get better praise than that.

Film Riot has been running for so long that I was a literal child when I stared watching. All throughout I went to highschool, film school, then grad school, worked as a re-recording mixer, and then ultimately switched industries 😅

I will always be impressed how Ridley Scott and his crew did that so seamlessly in the film, the exterior shots of the Nostromo on the moon's surface, and the discovery of the space jockey. It really helped stretch the relatively low budget.

It goes a very long way back in film history. One common version was to have a forced perspective set of, say, a street. The actors in the foreground are adults on a normal scale set which diminishes in scale until the actors in the b.g. are children. On a period film they might be riding ponies or riding in pony-drawn carriages.

Yay! I got them all correct. Was particularly happy with getting the Star Trek one correct. Not sure if it's because I watched it on my phone and that's a smaller screen but the first 'scene' screamed fake to me. Maybe these things show up easier on a small screen?

Awesome effect info for the 300 shots, BUT what has baffled me forever and its probably just my misunderstanding of editing slow mo. BUT knowing that you cant have two different frame rates on a single timeline in an edit, such as 24fps and 60fps both coexisting in a 24fps timeline, because as i was told the 60fps would just play in 24fps anyways. I know speed ramping is a thing, but im still confused on this.

Ryan, maybe you know the answer to this: when did movie credits move from the beginning to the end? I’ve been watching some older films and noticed that some have their credits in the beginning and end the movie with a simple “the end “.

I think you get paid too little for the advertising you have in your videos. They are masterpieces, super entertaining and enjoyable, brilliantly written and executed. If not yet, you should charge a lot more for these ads. They really stand out from the masses. And of course the rest of the video is super informative too!

Looking at that boat being towed uphill, thinking: gosh this sounds like one of Kinskis deeds... and of course there he stands, annoyed by the cries of pain of those with cut up/off limbs slowing down production, again. What apiece of shit who thought he was god. Like a Pharaoh dictating his slaves, still not being pleased while blaming them for diying. I mean even, look at the face he made constantly before exploding randomly on other people. Glad he's gone Good video tho 👍

I know and understand that you are a film channel and yes, films have music in them. But, when you are talking to us about how things are being done, please, pretty please with sugar on top, do not play any music (or more to the point, do not add any music to your dialogue track). For me (and as I have been told, not everyone) 'background music' during a host's talking is a very distracting thing. I am focusing on the information you are giving me and yet my brain also wants to pay attention to the music it is hearing. Very frustrating.
