Hey everyone! We had to cut out two small parts from the American Psycho section because of copyright issues. But we added the uncut video to our Patreon for FREE and will continue adding uncut videos there whenever there are copyright issues: patreon.com/FilmStack But for those who just want to know what was cut, here is a list of the missing facts: - They paid him the absolute minimum legally allowed in American Psycho, even less than the makeup artists - Despite the low pay, he still 100% committed to the part. It was his first major physical transformation for a role. He also stayed in character on-set, not socializing with anyone, and kept using his character's American accent (note: he normally has an ENGLISH accent, not Welsh) - He earned the nickname “Robo-actor” because of the business card scene where he broke out into a sweat at the exact same moment in each take - The film didn't do too well on release with critics or at the box office, it gained a cult following after its DVD release

To be fair to Bale yelling at the cinematographer, as I understand it, the cinematographer in question had a reputation for walking around during takes and fiddling with equipment, which many actors found distracting, but they just put up with it. Bale was the first actor to call him out, and lot of people in Hollywood applauded him for it.
@AlcoholicBoredom Жыл бұрын

Then you get into the degrees of how people react. My first call out, personally (not that I'm an actor), would have been very polite, if he did it a second time I'd stop the production and ask him why he's doing it again, embarrass him. Third time, if he hadn't gotten the message by now, I'd be walking out, loudly, just like him. Some might take that crap all day and just deal with it. Others might flip out the first time he did it. I could be wrong, but I doubt Christian lost it the first time it happened.

He’s such an incredible actor. I love the various films he’s made and have been astonished by all of his performances, but his portrayal of Bruce Wayne/Batman is my favorite and even to a good extent, the best he’s done. The different personas he plays is truly well done. He nailed the three sides of Bruce Wayne. He nailed Batman amazingly, channeling the kind of anger and pain Bruce would exhume as Batman and intimidated the normal every night criminal very effectively. While people make fun of his voice, it’s smart he’d have to change it considering how Bruce Wayne is well known and people would know his voice, it also works due to the more grounded version of the character he’s playing. Also, they tweaked with his voice in the sequels as Christopher Nolan wanted Batman to sound darker, yet Bale wasn’t able to achieve what he wanted without completely losing his voice. He got the playboy version of Bruce Wayne down where he seems a bit full of himself, to where people see him as too self absorbed to be selfless enough to be Batman as well as being a very good philanthropist while being a billionaire, which also comes into his portrayal as the real Bruce that people like Alfred Fox, Rachel and eventually Blake and Selina see, where he’s able to actually be himself and not have a persona around those he’s close with. Bruce Wayne is a very selfless character in many regards and the fact so few people will ever get to see the real Bruce Wayne kinda makes it special to all those who are close to him. The fact that this one role across three films gave Bale so much to work with and he truly became Bruce Wayne/Batman in that he took it seriously and never made fun of the character, sort of like what Adam West did in the 60s where he was completely sincere in his portrayal of the character, I truly love his performance as Bruce Wayne/Batman. His portrayal of the character is what I wanted to see back in the 90s and early 2000s and I’m glad Bale auditioned and got the part. Of course the writing and direction had a good hand in what Bale did in The Dark Knight Trilogy, but he absolutely knew how to play the character from not just the script and talking to Nolan, but by also reading some comics beforehand in order to understand the character. Not only did he give a hell of a performance in all three films, but he was able to get more opportunities that may not have happened if it wasn’t for Batman. He’s a very well deserved Academy Award Winner, but should have more nominations and wins, and continues to show his versatility in whatever project he takes on. Sorry for the long comment, but this is very well done and Bale is one of my favorite actors. Also, Bales accent is English, not Welsh. He was only born in Wales, but raised predominately in England when he was young. He’s since become an American citizen, but prior to that he was English. Keep up the great work!
@peglor Жыл бұрын
The really fucked up thing is that if Bruce Wayne funneled the billions he paid towards bat paraphernalia into things like a social safety net, affordable healthcare, housing and education, and prisons being rehabilitative rather than all punishment in Gotham, he wouldn't have needed to be Batman at all, because the supervillians would get the psychiatric help they need and have no stock of people with no hope to take on as henchmen to build themselves a power base. The Christopher Nolan Batman films were great entertainment, but rather than being superhero films, they should be taken as a critique of late stage capitalism, where a billionaire would rather spend billions on special equipment to allow them to go around city every night beating up poor people (Who still have no options, but now have life changing injuries or a grieving family) than spend it on actually solving the social problems creating the crime in the first place.

I remember reading a story where friends of Anthony Hopkins expressed “concerns” of his dedication to the character Hannibal Lector when Hannibal came out in 2001. They were supposedly worried about his mental health saying he had essentially become a psychopathic personality. I found the story funny as hell at the time because I always loved that character. When an actor “becomes” a character, it’s just an actor being a good actor, nothing more. Like Hopkins, Bale does the same thing in his films and it’s made him a great actor.

At 8:53 that's not Klaus Kinski. That is german comedian and imitator Max Giermann, who often imitates Kinski in his acts. The particular clip is from the ZDF Sketch History series, I don't remember the episode's number but it is about Kinski and Herzog. Anyway, great video^^

I’ve been a Christian Bale junkie since American Psycho 👏🏻 his dedication is stuff of legends. One of my favorites of all time is Prestige, but I’ve been a bat man fan since my creation so the trilogy is in the trophy case for me 👏🏻🙌🏻 Glad I found your channel, New subscriber & got a new list in my watch later list 👍🏻

Ford v Ferrari was such a great movie. It was the last movie i watched with my friend group. Since then, two of those friends passed away, one being my best friend. So Ford v Ferrari holds a special place in my heart.

Thats a nice sentiment, but I feel you're conflating the experience with your friends with the whether the movie was actually good. Because its really not. Its uninspired, bland, and entirely too predictable. Its basically a product placement paint by numbers movie with phoned in performances, a chatgbt script, and the most mind numbing use of blatant, punch you in the face, foreshadowing to the point you can predict every facet of the movie down to the individual lines.

Bale’s performance as Ken miles was phenomenal I even cried at the end when he died… amazing film amazing acting 🎭
@jvillain99464 ай бұрын
It really wasn't though. Without even knowing the history, you should have seen his death coming with the movie basically smacking you across the face and saying "kens gonna die in a wreck at the end" like three different times within 45 minutes?

The behind-the-scenes clips from American Psycho are great. One of the actresses is smoking a cigarette and when some of the smoke hits his face he looks at her in total disgust and moves away from her.

From losing a concerning amount of weight to gaining it back and working out, all that in 6 months between The Machinist and Batman Begins is impressive! His dedication is quite dangerous but I can respect it.

He was absolutely the best cast in my favourite film The Dark Knight Trilogy, had it been any other actor it had have not been as meaningful for me. He’s a good actor. Heath Ledger is another truly amazing actor it’s a shame he is gone for me he’ll be remembered for his masterpiece in the Dark Knight.

When I saw Vice I didn't really knew who was playing in it. I was just looking at Netflix and it said the movie just came out. Was bored so decided to watch it. I saw Christian Bale doing the younger part so I thought that was it when we switched to the older guy. Thought maybe a smaller role for this movie, nope it was him. Took me a moment to realize it and even had to imdb it. Then found out it was all him, no CGI. It looked amazing. I have nothing with the guy he played, but he put a stelar performance there.

There are some people who have to work to get good at something because they need it, or some who care a lot because they like it. Then there are people who are born for something because they are meant for it, they're destined to give to other people through their talents! This guy was designed to be an actor!

He's been one of my favorites since I saw Empire of the Sun, which is still one of my favorite films, sometimes it dosen't matter the movie, if He is in, I watch it, he's always dedicated, he did the best he could in Thor even if it isn't his best role (ny Mom said it reminded her of Palpatine), Bale said he didn't like the experience and dosen't want to do another superhero movie, fine, those Marvel movies aren't worth his talent.

He's my favorite actor by far, and certainly the greatest actor of his generation. The absurd range he has, and the commitment are astounding. The genial huckster of American Hustle and the jumpy older brother of The Fighter is so far away from the soldier of Rescue Dawn and the mentally ill protagonist of The Mechanic as to be almost comical.
