I'm so glad you guys are enjoying our country so much. The Great Ocean Road is one of my favourite travels. Spent a lot of school holidays camping and swimming along the Vic coast. Great memories. Now for a little bit of education. :P Koalas are marsupials, not bears, and are more closely related to kangaroos and wombats. The term "marsupial" comes from the Latin word marsupium, which means "pouch". Most female marsupials have a pouch where they raise their young. European settlers thought they looked like bears when they first arrived in Australia. Some early settlers referred to them as monkeys. Thank goodness that title didn't stick. 🤣 The word "koala" comes from the Dharug language of the Sydney basin and means "no drink." This refers to the fact that koalas get most of their water from the moisture in eucalyptus leaves. I'm looking forward to watching more of your adventures. ❤

Since you are correcting them allow me to correct you. Koalas in the sense you used doesn't have an apostrophe. Koala's indicates the koala owns something. The plural has no apostrophe.

I’m not too concerned about you referring to Koalas as Koala bears, but in future if you’re looking for them, don’t look up, look down. Koalas sleep up to twenty hours a day, so to see something moving in the trees is like watching Pandas move! 🤣 However Koalas eat a lot of toxic gum leaves and so they produce a huge amount of droppings. Under trees that house koalas you will find a large amount of koala droppings, that fortunately only have a strong eucalyptus scent. Therefore always look down for droppings and then look up. Cheers guys, and enjoy Australia 🇦🇺

I could see before you got to the 12 Apostles you were rushing but I think you got there at the prime time as the sun was setting in the background. Oh what a fabulous site! And what a great day for you both seeing that waterfall, koalas, 12 Apostles & the beautiful beach & bush scenery 👏 The koalas in Australia & other mammals can be hard to see as they are mostly nocturnal. Also with koalas yes they eat only gum leaves but only from certain types of eucalyptus trees. A good reason why you aren’t seeing much of sunsets so far is because you’re only in the East of Australia & the sun sets in the West here & naturally ruses in the East unlike the Northern Hemisphere. You got a fabulous veiw of the sunset over the sea because you’re only in were just in the right southerly position to see it. The best sunsets IMO are in Western Australia’s west coast. East Coast you will see lovely sunrises more so. I’m loving this trip along the Great Ocean Road. The actual trip is longer than 3 hours so don’t be too hard on yourself. Who wants to speed along hours of winding road & see little of what’s actually there? Chill & enjoy what you can. You only live once!

Right in the heart of God's country. I spent much of my youth roaming the beaches, rivers and hills of the Otways. My Grandfather was born in Lathers Hill in the 1920's not long after his parent's migrated from Ireland (Clare and Sligo). He was orphaned at 13 when they passed from an illness. He had to work the farms just for his keep. They were tough times, but he loved the Otways and now my folks live in his old home in Apollo Bay, which he named Kilkishin. For the record, technically you were no longer in Apollo Bay when you had a dip. That beach is part of Marengo. Enjoy your travels and God speed to you both.

With snakes, When walking out in the nature, it's really important to stomp/ have a heavy foot step as you walk, like literally stomp, this weather is when the snakes come out , because the hot weather warms their blood , and they are very active, also, baby venomous snakes are actually mote dangerous , any size is dangerous, but if a baby snake strikes, it's young and doesn't control its venom, so when it bites, it's more lethal, be careful and always stomp!! Send those vibrations through the ground, I grew up in the country
