Rock and Roll hall of fame is a complete joke! They are too busy adding Country music stars to add bona fide rock legends like Boston or Iron Maiden. I have given up on them. I thought they were making progress when they stopped snubbing Judas Priest and Pat Benatar, but this years snubbing of Iron Maiden while letting in Willie Nelson was the final straw for me. Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton absolutely belong in the hall of fame in their genre of music, but that genre is country.

@@aaradia I wouldn,t be surprised if they induct Justin Beaver before Classic Rock Bands as Styx, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon, Boston, Iron Maiden and lots more Classic Rock bands. They are indeed a complete Joke. It,s hard to take them serious. Even C[Rappers] are inducted. 😂😂😛

From when I was 10 years old, and their first album dropped, in 1976, I have been in love with Boston. When this album came out in 1986, I was a junior in college, and starting dating my current wife. This was our song, even though her name wasn’t Amanda. We’ve been married for 35+years - 4 kids, and 5 grandkids later, I still get emotional when I listen to this song. Brings me back to a wonderful time. So many roads that we've both traveled and God only knows the miles that have been between us but yet, we're back in touch with each other again and it seems as if those same feelings are still alive between us but there are complications at the moment. Serenaded my Ex-GF to this song one night when she had to work karaoke (replaced the name Amanda with her name). Practiced non-stop to get it right, I treated her like a queen and made myself available for her; however, in the end it was all about her and what she wanted. After three years together, she suddenly messaged me out of the blue and called things off with us. Somedays, I miss her, but I have to keep telling myself, "It was a lose/lose situation if it went further and it's just better if you move on." Thank you Boston, for giving me a wonderful thing albeit for a short time with someone special.

This song was Boston's one and only #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in their career. It happened during the late fall of 1986. The album, Third Stage, was at the time, Boston's first new album since their 1978 album, Don't Look Back, went all the way to hit the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 album chart. Jay and Amber, you two should also react to Boston's follow-up song to Amanda. It's called We're Ready.

I think I may have already told you but I worked for Boston from 1975-78. The harmony vocals you hear aren't sung by the rest of the band. It's all lead singer Brad Delp. I remember the Saturday in the studio when he did the overdubs. Brad was pure precision behind that 🎤 mic. He could throw down four-part harmonies like it was nothing. He and Foreigner's Lou Gramm are two of the vocalists that had near-perfect pitch. And Brad could bring it up an octave at a time like it was nothing.

Yes, the much anticipated album from Boston. It took close to a decade from their previous album. Then they released a ballad. Many Boston fans were disappointed, because they were expecting some more rockin' singles. This became their only #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in November 1986. BTW, I love the new studio... especially the random things that fall from time to time. Pretty clever! 😅

ANY SONG off the first album is a masterpiece. But "Rock and Roll Band" and especially "Something About You", absolutely. There was a live drummer on the first two albums (I forget his name...help me out) And let's not forget BARRY GOUDREAU, the other guitarist on this album. He was a real force on the local Boston (city) club scene and taught Tom Scholze a thing or two about guitar tones.

This was huge in my high school. In the yearbook, 2 songs were listed as 'Favorite Song' by the most students: Amanda and Comfortably Numb. Over the next few years, there were many babies named "Amanda"

If I had a daughter I was going to name her Amanda because of this song but I have 2 great boys. Love this song.

Dunno why it took a year for me to get this, but the first time I heard this, one of the rock stations in Wichita, played this, start to finish, I was lucky to hear it. I told my sister n brother n law, "They're back! Get it! Crank it up! You won't regret it! To this very day, I stand by my reaction. .

My son's mom's name is Amanda. She broke my heart 💔 But that was 24 years ago. I loved this song before I met her, and I continued to love it after we separated. I would never let how she treated me ruin my love for a song that is as great as this one!!

As a girl named Amanda I feel so fortunate to have so many songs with my name in them. Boston, Don Williams, and Waylon Jennings all have songs called "Amanda"...Barry Manilow sang the song "Mandy". Explains why there are so many Amanda's out there today. My husband always sings Don Williams' version to me, my Dad would sing Boston's version.

I was trying to remember how this went before you played it and I started singing Amanda over what SHOULD have been "Roseanna" by Toto! You should do that one too :)
