Fox Terriers are most underrated. They have super intelligence but can be completely single minded. Adorable.

I had a few dogs and believe that the real hero in this video is the trainer. A Fox Terrier is a brave dog for adventures but with low IQ. Bravo to the man and his Terrier LouLou!!
@markoglusic1003 жыл бұрын
They don't have low IQ, they just have no interest to obey you, they don't really care, plus they have really short attention spam (5 min), they get disinterested or bored quickly. They are extremely curious and easily distracted. They don't care about food, unless they wanna know what you are eating. They just wanna play all the time. They don't give a shit about pleasing you. But you need to show them its better for them to obey the roles. But once you get their respect or you give them reason to do what you want, you only need to show them trick two- three times and that is it. Plus you must know how to keep it interesting. . You really need to be smart and creative to train them. They think with their own head, real problem solvers, its hard to trick them. They just want to hunt, they just want to have fun. They are like children. I think that this is very common for hunting dogs: hunting terriers, hounds with exception of gun dogs. Those dogs are not eager to please the human they are independent thinkers and relay on their instincts to do their job. From my experiences German shepherd was so easy to train, extremely eager to please, it would do anything for a human. But those dogs can be quite - funny -stupid when they had to think on their own or do something on their own. Downside of this breed is that they protect their territory - people and can be quite aggressive if not correctly trained. They don't think ... they just attack.. even children... its quite common. I also had dachshund, as all hunting dogs - independent thinker, they are sweetest dog you can ever have but also a bit aggressive. Its not a toy unlike fox. My dog hated to play, but was eager to do anything for food. He had great attention spam (few hours), he LOVED tricks. But I needed a lot of patience. I showed him trick 10- 15 - 20 times ... . but learned everything. So the point is its unfair to call someone low-IQ based on WHAT? Science- number of neurons? You would discover hunting dogs have higher number of neurons. Based on how many times you need to show the trick? That also depends how eager dog is to do it, my dog gets it immediately. Dachshund took more time but he was really cleaver about other things. My personal experience is that if breed is easier to train it doesn't necessary mean it's smarter and if breed is more challenging doesn't mean its stupid, every dog is different that just mean it is not for everyone. Yes trainer is great but so is the dog, and you can see dogs loves it. That its only reason why it does it. They LOVE jumping, climbing, if you throw them in the air THEY LOVE IT. They do what they LOVE to do.

Sometimes how "smart" the dog is.. it doesn't reflect the dog but the trainer. Some breeds are easier to train and more eager to obey, others wont listen if they don't respect you.

I currently have my third Foxterrier - and while the second and current one were easier to train (more intrested in food/me as a person) my first one was the most intelligent so far. She even outsmarted not one but two dog trainers😅 For all three of them I bought "problem solving toys" were different tasks needed to be done to get the treat. They all learned how to solve them within a few minutes and after two days they got bored. For my second one I got a ball she had to roll around to get food when she was 11 years old. Again she learned the concept within minutes and after a week she knew to stop the ball with her paw so it wouldn't roll beneath the couch where she couldn't reach it anymore. ❤
