Now you guys know why Frieren said she was used to hearing Flamme beg for her life… because she was always pretending to be weak to get the drop on demons. 😂

Voice actor Tanaka-san passed away recently, and when I rewatch this video of episode 10 and episode 4, Flamme's words feel even more profound. Tanaka-san, thank you for a great work.

These two episodes are so damn good. I think Linie's ability is one of my favorite magical abilities even outside of Frieren as a show. That's just so cool to be able to watch someone and copy them exactly like that. Also props to Fern for hitting Lugner again to make sure he would die lol I wonder if Frieren sleeps so hard and has so much trouble waking up because suppressing her mana is still tiring? I love the ending kicking in after aura dies like no, aura is NOT alright 😂

We can assume Frieren is about 1500 years old. Her mana when Flamme found her was about the same as Aura's is in this episode. And Aura says she's about 500 years old. And her mana is about triple Aura's so somewhere between 1000-1500.

I find interesting that even after a thousand years, Frieren's hatred of demons hasn't subsided even a bit. It's an interesting contrast to her other emotions, considering how aloof and distant she is.

When the Demon King orders a genocide that gets everyone you've ever known and loved killed it's expected that you become Doom Guy and return the favor to all of Demonkind. Seems legit.

First of all, I don't understand English so I apologize if my English is a bit weird. Also, please understand if this seems like a long post. Also, I would like to pray for the repose of the soul of Ms. Atsuko Tanaka, the voice actress who plays the role of Flamme. This anime is overwhelmingly more beautiful than other anime, and it has gags and is a sad anime. You may not feel the sadness of this anime if you watch it normally, but I think those with a rich imagination or who are highly sensitive will understand it. If you use your imagination, you can understand the sadness. I'm sure you know this, but even with English subtitles, names of people and places are in German. Also, this is a work that places more importance on inner feelings than flashiness. Also, this anime places great importance on the dialogue, and it's full of great quotes. Every episode was good, and even in the build-up episodes, it's rare to find such a good story, and episode 27 in particular is in a class of its own, it's an amazing and good story. By the way, in Japan it is normal to call the person in the 7th story by adding "kun"(君) or "san"(さん) after their name. The act of calling a person by name without any honorific title is not done unless you are very close to the person. By the way, "kun"(君) is usually given to boys. It is sometimes used for adult women. "san"(さん) can be used by both men and women, but I think it's more often used for women. "Chan"(ちゃん) is usually given to small boys and girls. It is sometimes used for adult men and women as well. "Sama"(様) is usually used for people you respect. "Dono"(殿) can also be used, but it is not used very often. Also, the meaning is different in the English title, Sousou no Frieren(葬送のフリーレン). The 8th episode was the title collection episode of this anime in Japan. Sousou(葬送) means "funeral" and refers to saying your final farewell to the dead and sending them off to the crematorium or cemetery. This has a double meaning as it is used not only for allies but also for enemy demons. How many people really understand this anime? I can't speak for others though... And watching this anime makes me realize how precious time is. I believe this anime has a deeper meaning than other anime like Demon Slayer or Jujutsu Kaisen, which are like defeating an enemy. I want more people to watch anime like this. My wish is, for now, My rating on MyAnimeList remains the same, and I hope the number of members exceeds 1 million. I ended up liking sousou no Frieren better than Fullmetal Alchemist. Many people there are only anime with flashy looks there is a tendency to want to see it. Also, YOASOBI's OP has an English version called "The Brave". I think it conveys the sadness of the lyrics. You won't understand the sadness until the story progresses to a certain extent, and you won't understand the sadness unless you understand the person's feelings. Please give it a listen if you like.

If Fern made any mistake its that she started talking to Lugner when she got the drop on him. Frieren would have just blasted him. Frieren's time with Flamme was about a thousand years ago. In the flashbacks, it looks like Greco-Roman times from the dress and architecture. The use of suppression is considered cowardly due to the demon's viewpoint. Flamme was the first human mage, so she could only apply the demons' view of magic as to how it was used. These was no other outlook on magic than the one the demons had. Humans can be powerful mages because they are more driven from their shorter lifetimes. Elves can be more powerful in the long run, but they have so much more time to practice, so they tend to take it easier, while humans just focus harder and more intensely, and so can develop quicker, provided they have the talent.

I think Flamme thinks it's cowardly also, but because I believe she wants to show her love of magic. It feels like she hates and regrets not being able to express her joy in magic and can only concentrate on magic that deceives and hides away her talent and restricts her to fighting and killing. It looks like a betrayal to herself.

everything related to Flamme is always a thousand years ago, so Frieren basically trained and meditated alone in the forest for a whole thousand years before meeting Himmel's party. The most insane thing to me is that Flamme when she was barely 30, had mana comparable to a 500 years demon, and after a whole millennium her barriers are still up. Her natural talent was something else, truly a legendary mage, being human was her only weakness, and Frieren doesn't have that, so she can keep on stacking mana almost forever, she's already incredibly powerful, and it's only gonna get worse :D The ending of ep10 is always one for the ages when you see it the first time, the OST, the visuals, everything was epic for the reveal.

For some of the questions... 1. Heiter is a priest, not a mage. Priests are like healers. So, in simple terms, they heal their teammates. 2. We heard Flamme telling Frieren, "Today, I'll teach you how to raise your base mana." Implying that there is a way or a cheat code to sneak behind the years of training requirement. But I guess it wouldn't be as powerful as the original method.

IN the comparison between Lugner and Ferm. He had more control over his magic and more mana than her. But she was way faster casting than him, which was the reason, he was overwhelm with her spells. If we compared it to guns, He had a extremely powerful and very hight quality pistol with a lot of munition. Ferm had a fully automatic self loading firearm. In the battle dragged over time, Ferm would have been out of munition before Lugner, but the thing with fully automatic firearms is that that battles rarely last long.

> Who thinks it's cowardly? This is a world of swords and sorcery that hasn't experienced anything like WWI or WWII. They don't have a concept of a battle without honor where men are just bodies to be piled up. Even 100 years ago we still had "honorable duels" that practically legalized murder by modern standards. And also... it's just another world. Y'know, author's artistic license.

the director framing of these 4 episodes are just amazing, each give very satisfying feeling to wait for the next episode. episode 7: "stronger than your boss" episode 8: "frieren the slayer" episode 9: "oh sh*-" "ZOLTRAAK" episode 10: "KYS" most of frieren episodes end in positive vibe, you just dont feel depress discussing it while waiting for another episode!

from what I understand, supressing your mana is like trying to whistle and blow at the same time(supress your mana and shot spells at the same time), that's why it's tiring, what flamme taught frieren besides supressing the mana was also to increase her base mana and other spells,

This anime has great story and great characters. It did not even need to have this level of animation. But they really drove it in. It's so cool seeing Fern and Stark show off their combat prowess. And Frieren's command on a mind-controlled Aura never get old. Just says "kill yourself," turns around and leaves. Not even looking back. It's as cold as it can ever be. Very fitting to see Flamme like this though. Her final scene with Frieren there means much more now. That distinct cool and mature voice. She's been voice-acting since the 90s. Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost in the Shell: SAC), Hanami (JJK), Tamiya Ryoko (Parasyte) are among my favorite.. RIP Atsuko Tanaka. o7

The fact that Frieren did exactly what her master said and lived in obscurity, basically on her own, for a thousand years also explains why Frieren is so awkward and bad at interpersonal relationships and reading other people.

Mana is dependent on inborn factor, training and age. Magic obsessed elves and demons will have stupidly high mana. If you got those with talent on top of it, it becomes unachievable for short lived races.
