I'm a Russian and kinda obligated to love our guys :) Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, Kovalev, Malkin, Datsyk, Fedorov, Zherdev, blah blah. Plus I live in Atlanta, so Kovalchuk for us here is everything. BUT... I've always been telling my friends that Rick Nash is one of the best. And this goal is FREAKING AMAZING!!! Never really seen such coordinated puck handling before. Looks like he actually calculates what move he would make next instead of relying on his reflexes. You got my great respect, Rick!

True, a lot of people judge a player by how pretty his plays are and Thornton isn't particularly fancy, he just protects the puck very well. It's impossible to take the puck away from him 1 on 1 so there has to be 2 opponents on him whenever he has the puck, meaning there's always a Shark who's wide open, Joe finds that guy, passes him the puck and ends up with 90+ assists/year. It was while he was still a Bruin that I spoted this and said he would win the MVP and Art Ross some day.

Adding to that, this is the goal that killed the Coyotes season. They were in the playoffs up until this heartbreaking game. I admire the skill, but as a Phoenix fan he really just stuck it to us, and he always does. Ballard and Morris were terrific last season but this is one they'd like to forget. 2 Physical guys forget to play the body and end up immortalized.
