Glen called amazing grace a folk song. Never heard it referred to as that. It's in its own category.

It was written by John Newton, who was a former slave ship captain. It has its folksey sound, due to the music that was written for it, called Crimond. A lot of people think Newton was a Scotsman, when in fact, he was born in Oxfordshire. He left the slave trade, and befriended William Wilberforce, an abolishonist, and parliamentarian, from Hull. The rest is history.
