Hi. I am a Korean who can speak Chinese and English. I heard this song yesterday, but I feel like I could understand it. I think the lyrics contained old style Korean & Chinese. It's very interesting for me. Here I wrote what I understand below, I want to share this with American Speakers. --------------Below ------------- u ne la nv i u we tsi i ga go yv he i 유메이랑낭 이유대지 니가우 영 대 의

@@ludakim7557 You think Native Americans came from Korea just because some words sound similar? Do you even know how many different tribes and clans live in North America, they speak in different languages each tribe. They used sign language to communicate with each other because they couldn't understand each other's languages.
@ludakim7557

@@sherylecharlie7320 Not some words. All basic words have Korean roots. I checked already. Korean tribes were the first tribes after flood. They called themselves “core an”, cause believed, that came from whales ( core in Korean). They spoke same language - corean. With melting glaciers they spread throughout Eurasia, America, some part of India, Africa . Later they were pushed aside by other tribes or mixed. That’s why in Russian, English, Italian and other languages many words with Korean roots, but... meaning of those words has changed for 10 000 years. But in Native American languages meaning of the words hasn’t changed even for 30-40 000 years. Modern Koreans came from different Korean tribes originally from Siberia. They had many different dialects , but still could understand each other. That’s why in Korean language one word can have many variations, because they are taken from different Korean tribes.

Amazing Grace... What a beautiful, poignant song...made even more poignant here accompanied by traditional Native American music... the drums, the drums; they touch your soul, and remind you of the injustices suffered by these original peoples; those who owned this great land.. The slaves who were brought here under gruelling conditions: The Middle Passage; no release for those who survived that horrible, inhumane voyage ... and continued into bondage... A great rendition here. The Native Americans: their prophecies not to be dismissed... This land, America, which needs to be renewed in a spiritual way; in order that those who were persecuted may rest....and America would become in tune with Mother Earth... and the Great Spirit, once again... September, 2016.

Hello
@JetCatKorea
@JetCatKorea 5 жыл бұрын
Very nice to meet our relatives here. I'm Korean and christian, and the age of fifties like you. I'm a little bit older than you. I believe all Koreans feel as if they can understand the meaning of lyrics of this song. I mean lyrics are very much similar to Korean language, and some words and phrases are the same as Korean now a days. The english translation of the lyrics seems to be totally wrong. It's a kind of requiem, epic and chronicles. It describes the origin of your people, how they were, and what was their hope roughly about 1,200 years ago. (in 5 ~ 10th centuries, more than 10 million people moved to America, and have left lots of remains artifacts on their trail. and it includes language and customs too.) . The lyrics of this song are actually describing more specific things than the simple general thing like "voice I hear in the wind". "Nack-rang" is a name of specific place of our ancestor's land in northern part of Korean peninsula, where Cherokee Indian's ancestor had lived. "Nanli" means a kind of fights or war. And "Nanli sori" means a loud sound of war fighting. And many other expressions and names of this song have appeared in our history book, and some are currently used in modern Korean society. Sadly, number of American Indian had been reduced so quickly, and some seemed be absorbed by western culture. But you still have huge number of your family in Far East Asia and South America. (South American native people have much more (more than thousand) similar or same words, expressions exactly the same as modern Korean language. So I can dare to say "please have a strong pride of yourselves and your culture." We will be at your side forever, my brothers and sisters. Like K-wave (K-pop, K-food, K-drama, K-movie, K-beauty, etc) is extending worldwide and becoming one of the main stream and leader of world trends, American Indian (Cherokee, Hopi(means Tiger skin), etc) culture shall be prosperous greatly soon. Go Go Cherokee !!!! Go Go Hopi !!!!

it was a terrible thing what the white man did to the Indians. it's no different than if you were sitting at home one night and a bunch of people came in your house and said we're taking your house get out. I am a white man but we didn't want to share the land we wanted to take the land and put the Indians on a reservation. we took their lives away from them and we should be totally ashamed I know I am. please don't send me any emails thinking this was justifiable because it's not.

If the Cherokees had a national anthem, it is said that it would be Amazing Grace. This version sung in Cherokee by Walela is dear to my heart. The prayer words are from Chief Yellow Lark. Prayer to the Great Spirit Oh Great Spirit Whose voice I hear in the winds And whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me. I am a man before You, One of Your many children. I am small and weak. I need Your strength and wisdom. Let me walk in beauty And make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset. Make my hands respect the things You have made, My ears sharp to hear Your voice. Make me wise, So that I may know the things You have taught my people, The lesson You have hidden in every leaf and rock. I seek strength not to be superior to my brothers, But to be able to fight my greatest enemy - myself. Make me ever ready to come to You with clean hands and straight eyes, So when life fades as a fading sunset My spirit may come to You without shame. Chief Yellow Lark [1887] Lakota Indian Missionary and Medicine Man

1charlastar .. This song was written by a slaver... a man who traded slaves.. He became enlightened, turned his life around, and wrote this very heart rending song...Thus, "I once was lost, but now I'm found..." It certainly applies to the Native Americans and "their" bondage and the atrocities committed against them. This version is soul-searching.. America must look to the indigenous peoples and descendants of slaves which this country needs to be truly healed.. Alas, many are still "blind."

Angee Corea the person who wrote it was John Newton, as the library of congress states but the melody was sung by the slaves on the ship to America, it is where he found the inspiration to write the lyrics.

"Amazing Grace" is a Christian hymn published in 1779, with words written by the English poet and Anglican clergyman John Newton (1725-1807). Newton wrote the words from personal experience. He grew up without any particular religious conviction, but his life's path was formed by a variety of twists and coincidences that were often put into motion by his recalcitrant insubordination. He was pressed (conscripted) into service in the Royal Navy, and after leaving the service, he became involved in the Atlantic slave trade. In 1748, a violent storm battered his vessel off the coast of County Donegal, Ireland, so severely that he called out to God for mercy, a moment that marked his spiritual conversion. He continued his slave trading career until 1754 or 1755, when he ended his seafaring altogether and began studying Christian theology.

Amazing Grace Cherokee - PRAYER ►Video (filmed/edited 2010-10) on my website click: www.ine-pps.nl/?page=movies&item=amazing_grace_cherokee ►Native American Prayer: Oh Great Spirit, Whose voice I hear in the winds, And whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me! I am small and weak, I need your strength and wisdom. Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset. Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice. Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people. So when life fades, as the fading sunset my spirit may come to you without shame. ►Pueblo Indian Prayer: Hold on to what is good, even if it's a handful of earth... Hold on to what you believe, even if it's a tree that stands by itself... Hold on to what you must do, even if it's a long way from here... Hold on to your life, even if it's easier to let go.... I would like to pray Peace, Love, and Happiness to All who listens to this beautiful hymn and may the Father our Lord God and the Son Jesus touch you and free you from whatever binds you, I pray you find hope, peace, love, prosperity, healing and much more. If you are a sinner please come unto the Lord and ask forgiveness and mean it from your heart and speak it from your mouth it's not too late The Great Father love's you and wants to help you. There's no need to be lost anymore if you give your life to God good things are waiting. He is a friend that is always there helping you along the way. Bless you too friendship makes the world go round and spreading LOVE across the world is a good thing because God is LOVE and His creation needs it more now than ever with so many hellbent on destroying this world which was perfect until man started the destruction because of Greed and Envy and pure wickedness in some of them, indeed those who destroy for destruction sake are children of the Evil one. Bless you and your lovely music and you and your family I am sadly estranged from 90% of mine 1 out of 4 children loves me and 1 out of 5 grandchildren would love to know me and my mother still rejects me the same as when I was a child 70 years ago, sadly my father died Dec 1973 and my mother still lives at age 96 soon 97. One brother died while I was in Jamaica and one brother loves me and the baby brother could barely talk to me at our last living Uncle's funeral last April 29th. I leave them all in God's hands and I pray for them because they will never understand me in this world and I do pray that they will be in the next one with me and that they will be changed and have a greater understanding than they do now. I forgive everybody who has ever hurt me but some of them do not understand Forgiveness or Love and the only Spirit they show is critical and that is what I have learned to accept and live with. I want nothing to do with HATRED or Revenge of bitterness. I only understand LOVE and kindness and generosity of spirit and fulfilling God's Will for my life. Be blessed now and forever dear friend with prayers

Gracias

I do not know if I have any Native American Lineage or not, but this was beautifully done. Amazing Grace has been my favorite hymn for several years, I am now 87. I believe this prayer transcends all time, it is timeless!!!

I love these people , all they wanted was to live in peace in their land , and white people made sure they did not get this. I’ll always love the American Indians , and Always I Will Respect Them. May all the souls of the American Indians who were killed Rest In Peace , and their Spirits Come Alive Again and Join Us. 🙏
