Swift Fantasy Our Champion does it again!!! Gooooood GIRL LADY!!! She ran this race with a patched up nail as she tore some of it off exposing the quick on the trip down to Wanganui!! She would like to thank Daddy Stevie and Mummy Kathy and also would like to acknowledge Selleys.....the makers of supa-glue for mending my nail so I could race. GO LADY GO

Truly amazing dog, remember seeing this race on trackside and being in awe. It's absolutely incredible the way she races. This is more than just a dog winning from the back, she was easily 12 lengths off the last dog, and so comfortable just sitting there until the absolute last moment and then bang. Will be interesting to see if any possible pups share the same race style. Congrats on all her wins, she's a legend.

So many people in this world are just naïve. Just have no idea yet you think you have the right to comment thinking you're an expert. Yes, greyhounds are bred for racing but that's what they do. They don't attack people or wild animals. They just love chasing and running. Racing is in their blood. And most that do well, live a normal life and some of those that don't do well go through adoption programs where greyhounds are fostered out to homes before becoming great pets. The greyhound is more placid than your Labrador. Don't let the muzzle fool you. That's only there for other greyhounds as like humans, they can fight with their own kind. Yes, there are a percentage of dogs put down but the welfare of the greyhound is becoming more important each day. Someone is going to lose a loved one today in a motor car accident but people don't stop driving their cars. Watching dogs like Swift Fantasy gives the general public a thrill with excitement as it is one of the greatest sports to watch. At least with greyhounds, they try their hardest and run flat out from start to finish unlike the horses and the trots/harness racing. Greyhounds forever !!!

+Will Malli we raise the pups from birth on a farm which is called "rearing" and when they get to 12 to 14 months old, they get what we call "broken in". That means we teach them how to chase. Some trainers do it themselves whilst most are taught at professional trial tracks for about 4 weeks. When they learn their craft, we can tell if a greyhound chases truly, in other words at its best then we look at the times to see if it is good enough to get to the race track. At no stage is a young greyhound given a live animal in its educational phase. At this stage, the greyhound learns how to race and then is put away once again to grow and mature. A female greyhound matures much quicker and usually can start racing around 18 months whereas a male can take as long as 24 months to get to the track. So as you can see, no live animal has been killed for that greyhound to make the track. They chase mechanical lures and I will admit, sometimes there may be a dead rabbit on there as a reward for chasing so they have something to bite on. A greyhound loves the thrill of the chase, it in fact, in general, doesn't like killing live animals. It is unfortunate that there a small percentage in our industry that have used live animals for "live baiting" and this is a blight on our sport and earlier this year, a few got in severe trouble and have been dealt harshly by given life penalties but we are talking about 30 odd out of 10000 trainers involved in Australia and they were doing it with racing greyhounds and not so much young ones.. No matter what aspect of life, there is always going to be a small percentage of people that will wreck it for the majority and it will never be 100% but we live with it and do the best we can. You just cant generalise about something if you haven't been out there and experienced it yourself

I adopted a greyhound from GAPSA he never raced, but he came from a kennel. (Greyhound Adoption Program, South Australia) He had some poor traits for a racing dog, but he wan not killed or thrown away. He was presented for adoption through GAPSA, who paired him with me over 12 months ago, and I still have him. I also got another greyhound through GAPSA, but she had to go back (my dog doesn't like greyhounds), and she was rehoused with another family, she wasn't killed or thrown away. So, Ban Live Exports, check the facts of what you are writing. Thankfully the only person that gets a bad name and reputation when they write RUBBISH, is the writer. There are greyhound adoption agencies all around the world. Come on Ben Live Exports, help a greyhound yourself, adopt one!
