We fly Hawaiian 'First Class' out of San Jose California several times a year to Maui. Hawaiian 'First class' on the 767 is called the 'Ghetto Bird' for a reason. Their seats barely recline and the planes are older. They're supposed to be updating their first class sections to lie flat seats. It's only 6 hours from San Jose to Maui and it gets uncomfortable, I can't imagine sitting for over 9 hours in those seats. Years ago their first class food was very good. The chef from the Haliimaile General Store on Maui was their executive chef and created all of their menus. Unfortunately he left and their food became almost uneatable. I complained several times about the huge degredation in the quality of their food in Frist. It's gotten a 'little' bit better. Anyway, hopefully the lie flat seats will come online shortly. We're interested in Tahiti, and it's very hard to find first class to Tahiti. With such a long flight, it's critical to be able to SLEEP so you don't feel like crap your first 2 days there.

I've been flying in and out of HNL for over 45 years and I must say that this video captures the feeling of leaving O'ahu better than anything else on KZbin. For residents and frequent visitors to the isles, the flight out of HNL is always tinged with quite a bit of sadness. I've actually pulled down the window shade after passing Makapu'u point just because I start to get a lump in my throat at the thought that I won't return. I've watched this video countless times and it continues to bring back a beautiful, melancholy sensation every time. I can't wait to return to that magical place!

Mahalo for the video. I've flown from Honolulu to JFK and back and had comfort seating. I've flown HA's first class seats before and it was okay then they changed to wide leather seats and now lie flat. I usually fly out of Los Angeles in first class and HA has come a long way in service. My fellow worker flies for Delta and in international flights Hawaiian Airlines is the most affordable first class to get. I've recently flown from Honolulu to Sydney and back and those lie flat seats looks comfortable. I was in extra comfort seating but 10 1/2 and 9 hours it was too long, wished I've gone first class.

Beautiful views out the window of Oahu and at 5:35 a great scene of Hanauma Bay. I can't believe how much Oahu has grown population wise since the last time I was there in 1987 ! It's a BIG city now. Amazing good job!!!!

Hawaiian Airlines is converting all their A330 aircraft first class cabins to lie flat bed seats, but this one still had the recliners with extendable foot/leg rests. We flew them last year just from the west coast LAX to HNL and for a 5.5 hour flight they were fine, but HNL to JFK is 11 hours plus. The lie flat bed seats will eventually be on this route and am sure enjoyed by first class passengers. We did find the food and service in first class to be excellent. Hawaiian does serve complimentary meals to economy class passengers also which is a nice perk.

We go to Honolulu from New England every winter. I prefer United, first class is full flat for a few years now. Typically we will fly through LA on the way to break up the trip but on the way home we’ll red eye direct to EWR (Newark) or IAD (Washington DC), long enough flight to get a full nights sleep. United is usually pretty good but not always. Hawaiian airlines is pricey on these long haul compared to say American or United, Especially business-First and I don’t see what extra you get for your money.

At 10:18? Those looked like F-22s. Hickam AFB uses the Honolulu Intl runway frequently iirc and Hickam has a squadron of F-22s.

I wonder who the SAM flight was for? Some high cabinet member i would imagine..(sec of state?) (actually it was probably Steve Mneuchin's high class wifey) Spent a few years here and on Maui while in the Navy in the 80's. I'd retire here but its simply too expensive now. Should have bought property back then. HNL is still one of my favorite airports...used to surf just down the way.

Nice job with the video. One thing I noticed, HA's First Class looks mediocre, space wise, and seating. Reminds me of the 90s. Meal presentation, and what you ordered, didn't look appetizing either. Wa Wa... Love the A330 though, and will be interesting to see how they configure the new A350.
