It's crazy to think that this aircraft, the Boeing CH-47 Chinook, was originally designed in the late 1950s and early 1960s, and yet after numerous engine upgrades and the installation of a glass cockpit the design is still flying in 2023 and beyond. The designers got this aircraft's basic design so right from the beginning that it has had only incremental improvements since. A Chinook from the 1960s still looks very similar to a Brand New Chinook today. The vast majority of changes have been internal and technology based. Mark from Melbourne Australia

B-52 entered the chat. 😂
@markfryer9880 Жыл бұрын
@@yellowboxster06 Yes, well nothing can compete with the B-52 in terms of longevity and developing technology has helped to keep it in the air space. Without the advent of cruise missiles and smart bombs which can use GPS and winglets to guide themselves to the target and keep the B-52 out of harms way, there would have been fewer positive arguments for keeping it in the air. Flying subsonic also helps due to less pronounced airframe stresses.
@markfryer9880 Жыл бұрын
Another aircraft of a similar age and classic design is the C-130. That thing is so versatile that it is hard to beat. It has had the cockpit upgraded to a glass cockpit and so reduced the crew requirements by a flight engineer. It also now comes in longer versions than originally built, due to a lot of clients cubing out their capacity before they weigh out the capacity of the aircraft. Australia prefers the longer body aircraft.

As an old MOS 67U3F "chief" on the A and C models, this video brings back a ton of memories. The minimum flightcrew is three. They are one of the fastest birds in the air; we always had to back-off so the Snakes could catch up. From putting around on the water to landing on top of Mt. Baker (in Washington state); they are quite the ride. An old Hook-er loves the smell of JP-4 in the morning.

Video does no justice in experiencing the presence of a Chinook close by. You feel it. I imagine a deaf individual would experience quite the Symphony of Thumps on your body, coinciding with a sharp swoosh vibration frequency that passes through you, up and down your whole Carcass. You must plug your ears , preferably ear phones,and keep your mouth open if your real close, because the pressure is phenomenally quite overwhelming for an amature Civilized Observer. Christ will be nailed to the Wood, this coming Friday at 3pm local time. He will Riseup at 11am on Sunday, for those who are interested in attending. Thankyou

Roller coaster Ride. In the Army we went from Ft. Sill in Oklahoma to Ft. Hood, Texas. Our section chief and a Sargent both gorgeous so Air Sick, many Barf bags full. Be riding along just fine and wham the bottom falls out it seems. You slowly climb back up and Wham again and again. That was good weather too? Chinook Helicopters are fun if you don't get air sick easily.
@7VLd2aH428 күн бұрын
The flightcrew was just screwing with you. The pilots were most likely doing the negative G thing just to break the boredom or because the PACs did something wrong. I know because I've requested it when the PACs were misbehaving.
