Great hike with absolute overwhelming views as Jerry shows in his fantastic video. We parked our car today at the end of the paved road, so had 2 km each way extra. This path runs parallel to the Schnebly road but the dust of the pink ATWs won't reach you. And, it's a nice and beautiful addon, I think.

I’ve ridden in other people’s cars up schnebly but I won’t do that to my Subaru. It could probably take the wear, but it’s just not worth it to me. So, I end up hiking from the parking lot up munds wagon trail, to schnebly hill trail, which leads up onto Munds mountain, which is a totally unique mountain for Sedona. Wavy, hilly meadows, sometimes elk herds, amazing views. The whole hike is about 20 miles, so those last few hours are pretty rough, but it’s always one of my favorite long hikes. And you never see anyone once you get above schnebly road... until you come back down and have to listen to all the Jeep’s and ATVs on the road. Thanks for the video

We did that a few years back. It snowed like 6~12" or something crazy like that. We did Soldier Pass and Cathedral Rock in the heavy snow and it was amazing. Oh, and we hiked up into a complete white out on Wilson Mountain. One of my favorite 2020 hikes.

Hiked this a few weeks ago. Great trail! I missed the arches though. Have to hit that up next time. I skipped driving the Schnebly Road by hiking a couple miles on Munds Wagon to the Hangover Trail.

Have wanted to hike this trail since seeing your first video of it. We get to AZ from TX a few times a year, so Hangover was a priority when I was there last week. I hiked it early last Tuesday morning counter clockwise, and only saw 8 people the whole time. Weather was perfect-sunny and 60 degrees with no wind. Man, one of the most scenic hikes I’ve ever done. Thank you so much for the incentive your videos provide to get outside and enjoy life!

Fabulous capture of this amazing outing. Is this an out and back to the car or a loop back to the car? Many Thanks!
@JerryArizona2 жыл бұрын
The hike is a loop. You can go from the Cow Pies Trailhead, but you need to get up Schnebly road to get there (4WD only). You can park at the Huckaby Trailhead before the road turns to 4WD and hike the trail along the road (Bear Wallow?) and access it from there also. It adds 1 or 2 miles to the overall hike that way, but no 4WD needed.

Over 20 years ago I rode out there on a bike and decided it was suicidal. Another time we also dropped down into Oak Creek Canyon from the saddle and came out at the bridge. Very technical riding. But maybe the trails are better now. I live in Cottonwood, so it is close by, but the crowds in Sedona suck so I don't go over there much anymore.

I'm surprised I don't see any mountain bikers in the background since the trail is so popular. It is one of the three H's. The others being Hiline and the Hogs. A pro rider, Macky Franklin, took the King of the Mountain crown a few months ago. He didn't get the title until his third loop around the trail that day.

That margarita made me thirsty, Tina has a potty mouth and you guys are awesome, love this type of content keep it coming please. My sister and brother-in-law are going through Sedona next week, can you recommend the Mexican restaurant you were at?
@JerryArizona3 жыл бұрын
Best Mexican we've found is El Patio on the Cornville exit on the way up....It's a dive, but that's perfect. Javelina Cantina was good. Not great, but good. I mean, I don't think they'd be disappointed. My buddy would kill me for not saying Elote Cafe, but it's always closed when we are there so I haven't tried it. Good reviews. Do not recommend Oaxaca or the place in Tlaquepaque. I'd love to try that really fancy place from the chef at Dahl & Diluca (sp?) - Mariposa...but I never think far enough ahead to make reservations.

Schnebly hill road. Now that would be a tough mountain bike trail. Because it sucks as a road.
@JerryArizona3 жыл бұрын
Very accurate evaluation. You can get up to the top much easier further up the I-17 for camping and (almost) the overlook. Still gets crappy toward the overlook though.

you ran into my gf on this loop haha! She said she stopped and told you I watched your videos and got a picture. I plan on doing this next time I'm in Sedona as I don't think she went up to the arch/windows. That was your gf? Nice! We met her before we got to the side trail (she had passed it coming the other way.) I am always so taken off guard when someone recognizes us. One of these days, maybe I'll figure out a clever way to work it into a video. But for now, thanks for watching! (Also, that loop would probably be pretty awesome.)

Hi! Planning a trip to Sedona mid February. Do you think it’ll still be snowing? Didn’t want to hike in snow.
@JerryArizona3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely no idea. It's really unpredictable there in the winter. It's actually really fun hiking in the snow. Microspikes help. We've hiked up there a few times in the snow and loved it. Then again, some canyoneers just got caught in a snowstorm and spent two nights on the mountain over this past weekend....probably less fun. I recommend just watching the forecast when it gets closer. You'll probably be OK, but you never know.

can you park off of Schnebly hill road or do you have to park at the paved parking lot?

There is a decent sized parking area at the bottom before it turns into a dirt road. But like all things in Sedona, go early because it fills up fast.

Is this trail really marked very well? We will be in AZ in November. Is this easy to find without using 4WD?
@JerryArizona Жыл бұрын
The white dots mark most of the trail where it's on the red rock. You just have to keep your eye out for them. It isn't marked climbing up to the Windows. If you don't have a 4WD, you can park where Schnebly goes from asphalt to pavement (just off the round-a-bout coming into town from the south) and follow the trail along Schnebly Road up Bear Wallow Canyon. I'm not sure the name of this trail, unfortunately, but if you look at a map or GPS device, you should see it. It'll add 1 or 2 miles each way, but still shouldn't be too bad overall.
