I was so happy to come across this video! I love Hummingbirds.❤ I had never really thought about them until one day 12 years ago I was in a bad depression. I was sitting on the steps in front of my house with my head hanging down. All of a sudden I heard fluttering in my ear, I thought it was a bug. I put my hand up to shoo it away and all of a sudden a hummingbird flew right in front of my face and just hovered there for a minute as I stared in amazement at it. Then it flew off. I had never seen one around before. I had no flowers that it would have been attracted to. I think it was sent as a messenger to snap me out of my depression. So you see, they are very precious to me.❤

I must say, these little gems are great for depression, as they are so uplifting....when I lost my very best friend, the hummingbirds really have helped me. I have heard lots of stories about hummingbirds and other people dealing with loss and these birds bringing them signs....I will say, they are gems of the heaven and the sky, that little bird knew you need him, Thank you so much, Robbie

The week my Mom passed away I seen a hummingbird come up to picture window at her house early morning. It was only 35 degrees out in April. The bird was there long time. After that during her sickness after she passed I still have every encounter imaginable about hummingbirds. My mom loved them! Her nickname since a child was Honey!! I always say I could write a book and if I did it would be called Honey and the Hummingbird!! The day my mom passed my brother had plant inside house in same window I seen hummingbird and the most beautiful flower bloomed! It was that flower you always see in picture with a hummingbird and we found a vase in her cabinet with just that on it the same day.

One of the best things I experienced when I visited an old friend in Sonoma County was watching the hummingbirds. Coming from England I'd never seen them before and was amazed how tolerant of humans they were. One thing that stayed with me was when I first arrived at my friend's house and got the job of hanging up the feeders that the hummingbirds came to have a close look at me because I was a stranger. Having a hummingbird hover a few inches from my face was amazing!

Last year, I had plants in front of a window in the house. husband looked out the window and saw a hummingbird hovering in front of the window, trying to get to my plants. So we put a humming bird feeder out, and before we knew it, we were putting 2 more out. They are so cool. It's amazing how fast their wings move. I saw the map, and it showed them coming through pa. So I put a feeder out, and it wasn't long before one came to it.

Seomtimes i have had this happen many times, in front of me or my open door hovering as if conversating with me. I stay still and whisper to my recently deceased mom who also loved them. Id like to believe its carrying a message from a dearly departed, if not mom, that I'm not alone and such simple things like seeing these fleeting hummers can make me so very happy even in a very different, scary and at times depressing world. Simplicity can be bliss. I'm so glad we here can See and appreciate these little guys for the beauty they bring to our lives and surroundings.

I have studied these beautiful creatures for 20 years. Feeding Hummers will get them twice there life span. A bird visited me for 4 years. It had a deformed bill. It did a great job feeding. Even catching gnats in the evenings. California has a better fly way than we do on the Gulf coast. But the most incredible thing I have seen. It was a bird I was watching one spring coming in from the south across the Gulf and land right beside me and started feeding. I just sat there watching. Unbelievable he came across the Gulf from the Caribbean was so tired he sat and ate all the flowers he saw. I read of a Hummer caught in Costa Rica that was caught again in Fairbanks Ak. 2 weeks later. Amazing one of God's Creations !

It's a big dish about 1/2" deep with a water tube drilled into the center of the plate, just filling the plate and spilling off into the rest of the fountain. 8 at a time. All the birds bath in it. @@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy Thanks !. The mistake many folks make is they fill up a feeder, hang it out in the sun, and by golly, they are gonna leave it hang for months until it has been consumed. Bacteria and mold, dead ants etc. Spoil it. I ask friends " OK. You wouldn't want to drink from cups on the coffee table the day after your guests have left them behind, right ?". Yucky !.Also, Please don't use strawberry soda, folks. Stick with cane sugar. Q....Do you find hanging them in the shade helps it not spoil a bit ? I do.🦋 ps would love to make a fountain !. Pps one more thing. I had ants spoiling the nectar. I use an S hook that is sprayed with cooking spray or greased with a bit of vaseline. I'm careful not to coat the feeders or perch areas. It would ruin their feathers. Anyway, the ants won't cross it. The Victorians used to decorate hats with these birds. Let's pay it forward a little. Gasp ! No hummer emojis. Bummer ! Lol 🌼

I love your hummingbird, or " bird" videos so much. I have lived in the same place in Upstate NY for over 18 years. I have never seen a hummingbird in my life. ~ 4 years ago, I made an outside garden near my house and put up a hummingbird feeder from the dollar store, and just before it became dark, hummingbirds were at the feeder. I was HOOKED! I started getting more feeders, and they came every day. Morning and Evening is very busy. At first, I put out the hummingbird feeder and it was empty all the time. I didn't realize I had Orioles in the area also, that drank so much. I now enjoy hummingbirds and Oriols at my feeder. It makes me smile every day. They leave my area in September, but until then, I am going to enjoy every second that I can with them, and Photographing them. I have also grown vegetables since watching your tutorials ... I truly love your channel! :)

I had a teeny nest this year. So cool I had always wondered what they looked like. This house is flower s everywhere, wild & planted an acre of all kinds of flowers & wild medicinal herbs with flowers too. It's like a nature sanctuary with endangered species of flowers too. Some are so rare they ask ppl to take a pic & post. I found out about all the wild flowers by acc ident, I was sick for weeks, couldn't cut the grass & all these beautiful flowers popped up. Now I leave that section naturalized as It has medicinal plants the native Americans used. I have 2 Indian marker trees too they point to a river & are hundreds of years old. My stupid neighbor almost cut one down on an adjoining lot He thought it was dead since the branch was bent low to the ground 👀

I ❤️hummingbirds. My life totally changed this July 31st will be 3 yrs that I lost the love of my life. I was with my husband since 1992. Over 1/2 of my life. We had lots of hummingbirds. The next summer I put some out but being so depressed I wouldn’t fill them as much. Did this couple yrs. I’m still very very depressed but I’m gonna put some out and hopefully continue filling them. I hope they come back cause I had so many. Thanks for sharing your beautiful video

I bet if you start filling those feeders many will return, as they do remember, and think of all the good times you have had, that you have forever, and how he loved those little gems. I am so truly sorry for your loss, as really there are no words I can say....loss is so hard, but thank God you had him that long, how he changed your life for the better, and his love and thoughts will be with you forever. Be well, take care, and thank you, Robbie

Great video! The drinking straw cleaners work well with cleaning the small holes in the hummingbird feeders. We change the nectar every three days because of the hot weather in Texas. Generally, we only put a small amount of nectar in each of the 4 feeders so that the nectar is fresh and not wasted. When they begin to feed heavily, add more nectar to the feeder. Store the extra nectar in the fridge for quick refills. Love the post and comments.

You compelled me to research so i must share... 10 Facts About Hummingbirds 1. They are the smallest migrating bird. They don’t migrate in flocks like other species, and they typically travel alone for up to 500 miles at a time. 2. The name, hummingbird, comes from the humming noise their wings make as they beat so fast. 3. Hummingbirds are the only birds that can fly backwards. 4. Hummingbirds have no sense of smell. While they can’t sniff out feeders, they do have good color vision. Some birds like the Ruby-throated Hummingbird prefer orange or red flowers. Despite this, red dye should not be used in nectar as it could harm the birds. Instead, plant naturally red or orange flowers or use feeders that have red coloring in their structure. 5. The average weight of a hummingbird is less than a nickel. 6. Their tiny legs are only used for perching and moving sideways while perched. They can’t walk or hop. 7. Hummingbirds drink the nectar found in feeders by moving their tongue in and out about 13 times per second. They can consume up to double their body weight in a day. 8. The average number of eggs laid by female hummingbirds is only two. These eggs have been found in nests smaller than a half dollar and compare in size to a jellybean or a coffee bean. Some species, like the Black-chinned Hummingbird make their nests with plant down, spider silk, and other natural resources that can expand as their babies grow after hatching. 9. A flock of hummingbirds can be referred to as a bouquet, a glittering, a hover, a shimmer, or a tune. 10. There are over 330 species of hummingbirds in North and South America. Common species in the U.S. include: Anna's, Alan's, Rufous, Ruby Throated, Black Chinned, Calliope, Broad Tailed and Costa's. Most Amazing fact is Hummingbirds only live in North and South America... we are so blessed to have them in our yards.

The fact is, a lot of these facts seem kind of obvious. The name hummingbird is kind of clear where it came from. It's not really a mystery Most birds don't have a sense of smell and hummingbirds don't even have nostrils on their beaks so... They actually have a forked tongue like snakes Most of these facts aren't all that interesting Common Species of Hummingbirds in the US are: Ruby Throated-Eastern US Rufous-Western US Black Chinned-Western US Anna's-Pacific Coast Allen's-Pacific Coast north to Oregon Costa's-Southwestern US Broad Tailed-Western US Calliope-Western US

Thank you so much for this information I have added several feeders and have gotten a lot more birds coming. I've never had so many before but learning by watching you has helped me tremendously. I have one little guy he's so beautiful he's red and he likes to try and run the others off but they keep coming. He's so loud and I love listening to him. It's gotten to where they will come around me and I love it. Thanks so much. Hugs Heather

I live in Florida and last winter it was close to freezing one morning and I had taken my 1 humming bird feeder down to clean and refill! While they were waiting for me to put the feeder back up I saw one of them going to just the red and orange Christmas lights I had put up trying to feed on them! I hurried up and got the clean full feeder back up and they wasted no time getting to it and drinking for a long time! So precious!

Very informative video. I liked it. I'm in Central Florida and I have 8 feeders in my yard and garden. I even have one under my papaya plant. I couldn't get the flower blossoms to get pollinated. I put a hummingbird feeder under the papaya tree and the bees were attracted to the sugar water. I now have 5 papaya fruits! 😃 Keep up the good work with the hummingbirds.

We’ve had a feeder out for 5 or 6 years, but missed a year when I was diagnosed with MS and couldn’t take the heat & sun. This year I put out a second one, but I haven’t seen anyone use it yet. Last year, I kept seeing a hummingbird being chased away by another, and am hoping the new feeder will help with that. We have a 2nd floor deck and keep the feeder there, where we can watch them come and go. In our yard, we have 2 wild bird feeders that feed sparrows, cardinals, mourning doves, ducks, finches, & red-winged blackbirds & of course a squirrel. We’ve even seen an Indigo Bunting & a Bluejay this year, both firsts. Here’s a woodpecker that visits the tree next to our deck. Nature is wonderful. ☺️

Love to hear your suggestions for the hummingbird nectar. I've been feeding them for years; they're fascinating little creatures. I'm sure if I put out 20 feeders (and no, I'm not up to that) the birds would empty all of them! Our feeder hangs on our back deck and the constant coming and going of the hummers is a wonderful "buzzing" sound. Thank you for your info! Karen S Douglasville, GA
