Anyway, very fun and fascinating for us, that have done so much of that kind of creative construction. You guys are great!

I'm surprised you did not divert the rain water to the barrel as well. Just build a cistern to hold the rain water and then a solar powered pump to pump the water to the tank and then you would never have to use the water from the city. As much snow and rain you get there that tank would really come in handy. Also I would have used a black color barrel, mold will not form in a black barrel as it will in a blue barrel. Then if you wanted to heat the barrel of water the old way, you could wrap the barrel in either copper or plastic tubing and then wrap the tank with insulation to keep the water hot
