For me Steve holmes is the first guy who decoded the colaiuta/weckl and other important fusion patterns/ stickings and combination here on youtube. If theres a hall of fame awards of drum educators here in youtube, steve should be on the top list.

In my opinion it's only because of a series of circumstances that you're not considered to be among hall of fame drummers like Steve Smith, Gary Novak, Dennis chambers, Joel Taylor, Gary husband etc (I will leave Vinnie and Dave out because we all know they belong to an even higher category of unreachable gods). I think it's only because you weren't born at the right time and at the right place, because for what pertains to talent and skill, you're definitely up there with the greatest. And I think all of us who know about drumming consider you to be in that place, it's just that you never got to be as widely known and honestly that angers me a bit sometimes. But just know that in our hearts you're among all those guys, in equal standing. You're a legend and a joy to listen to.

Wow. I thought this might have been an Allan Holdsworth cover, and even thought I heard your toms sounding a bit like Wackerman's on Metal fatigue, which convinced me even more. Surprise, it's an original, and more approachable than Holdsworth's music. This clip was fun on a number of levels, and I've just added an album to my To Buy list. As a drummer, my choice of favorite instrument is too obvious, but the bass and guitar playing in this trio sounds fantastic. Thanks for this clip :)
