So what exactly is this, you might be asking? Well, that’s a good question.
He’s actually a Sumatran orangutan and, zoologically speaking, he falls into the family of grate apes.
Now, most people think of gorillas when they hear apes, and we do have a lot of those on the channel, but, orangutans are right there too in the family.
They spend most of their time climbing around off the ground, unlike gorillas, who are more solid ground based.
I think the most interesting thing about this orangutang here is the cheek flanges he has on his face. Now your not going to see this on all orangutans because it is only dominant males that develop them.
And this guy is quite dominant. He weighs somewhere around 75 kilograms, so that rope is getting a very good workout. I could even hear it creaking earlier!
