Rachel O'leary Great informational video. Ironically, yesterday my daughter went to the library and I had asked her to check out a few fish books for me. One of those books was The 101 Best Freshwater Nano Species. I had no idea this was your book until I started reading it. Cool!

I am about to put together a brackish tank (I'm partial to my nerites), and I think my journey led me here. I used to live along an estuary, and that environment fascinates me (and I already keep badis badis, so the live food is already a thing, lol). Thank you. Tiny little predators are so adorable.

I’m going to try live food starting today. As I bought the bumblebee gobys yesterday and so far they will eat the bloodworms but nothing else. Hoping to find some at my LFS.

I don't know if you noticed, but you may have two different species in there. Look at the fish toward the upper left @2:42, it has the "saddle spot" typical of aggregatus while the majority appear to be doriae.

Lots of you are asking how they would do with shrimp. As with any micropredator, they will eat young shrimp. I don't think they would have a chance against adult shrimp, but any baby shrimp would certainly become food.

Also- Must add (and said in the video), This species is OFTEN found in brackish- those fish should be kept in brackish. Mine were collected in Freshwater- so are being kept in freshwater.

Finally you did one on Bumblebee Goby! I have 3 in a 5 gallons tank, all of them females... waiting to get a male when available. I put 2 teaspoon of marine salt in the water and pH set to 7. I had them previously and they don't last too long in pure fresh water. As for feeding, I am feeding them frozen blood worm. The can't be fed with dried food and they don't seems to like brine shrimp very much. I had the mentioned 3for close to months now and they adorable to watch during feeding time! It's kids fighting over candies.

Thank you Rachel. I've decided to have two separate species tank for my cardinal shrimp and bumblebees like I messaged you. I have 30 in a 50cm cube and they are doing great and love their blood worms and brine shrimp. There are so many people out there giving false information about them and looked and you never had a spot light done on them. This has really helped and I just love them so much. They really do have wonderful personalities and I can recommend a species only tank and it looks great with so many in a tank and they do all get a long and I enjoy the squabbles over food. I would love to send you a photo, just don't know how. I will be adding some medium size shells for them too and I keep them in brackish. But I just love them. We are not permitted to have dwarf puffers here in Australia, but these really do fill in the void for me anyways.

This has helped me out a lot. I love bumble bee gobies. Had one for years in a big 30 gallon tank with a big variety of fish and almost never saw it. Was lucky if I spotted it once a month and this lack of sightings grew my fascination anf love for these guys when I was growing up. Just got a couple recently. And put them in a 10 gallon tank with a few pigmy catfish. I'm really excited to have gotten these guys and hope to do a good job caring for them :)

I have three in a planted 3ft community tank with cardinal tetras, 3spot Gouramis and balloon mollies. I feed mine frozen blood worms or fine sinking pellets. Love these, they are one of my favourites too. I had them in a nano fish 3ft tank about 10yrs ago, I used to use tweezers and offer tubifex or similar to them individually as not alot of food ever made it down to them and i worried theyd start to drop weight, they seemed to be doing rather well until i added a few scarlet badis into the tank and i think where they tend to be more bolshy it must of stressed them out as i lost all my BBG within a month or so after, would love to keep them again though but as you point out its so tricky to no exactly which ones you end up buying. Awesome seeing them in a big group like this though, great fish thanks :)
@--Paws--
@--Paws-- 6 жыл бұрын
From my experience, no matter the size they show their aggression towards anything in their territory. They don't really fight but chase anyone in their way. The more docile gobies stay at the bottom or find a spot to rest. However, if they are somewhere peaceful they will play hide-and-go-seek to anyone similar in size. Like many fish, they nip to show dominance or see if something is edible.

When you say add salt do you mean aquariom salt or ocean salt aquarium products? I used aquarium salt with mine, but I've heard sea salt mix is better because it contasins more various salt these fish need that come from brackish water environment. I had 6 in a well planted and scaped 55G with 6 pea puffers, fresh water flounders from the amazon.

Why do Tanks refer to things as a "bunch" all the time? Tip: No one has to worry about slow eaters getting to the food, do as I do, put the cubes of frozen food in a be, run it under a slow running tape then once melted spread the food across the aquarium, the faster eaters can't be everywhere at the same time.

Confused. Bumblebee gobies are brackish & dwarf pea puffers are fresh. Brackish fish go back & forth between the brackish area & fresh water area. Mine do great in my low brackish tank. I plan to put a figure eight puffer w them as they are brackish. A green spotted puffer goes from brackish when young to full marine as they get older. The bumblebees will live for a while in fresh but not as long. Correct if I have wrong information on this.
